 My proposal to rewrite the ending.

The charge at the teleport beam leading to Citadel gives you a chance to select a new team, one member must be EDI, who believes she may be able to better interface with the Catalyst in person.
The party is still hit by a laser, hurt, but all three make it on board. Anderson is not there. Edi gets cut off from the other two as the Illusive man comes along, does his anticlimactic mind control, shooting happens, etc. Illusive man dies, EDI gets back to the other two, they meet the (TERRIBLE IDEA) god-child, who gives his terrible speech. EDI and Shepard discuss briefly if AI is capable of love, and if they could develop a soul. If your Shepard says yes to both, EDI sacrifices herself to control the Reapers.
On Earth below, the Reapers beams turn from red to blue, and then they stop firing. All across the universe the Reapers speak in unison: "I love you, Jeff Moreau." before departing and getting dumped into a sun or black hole or something.
Galaxy is safe, Shepard's coices actually matter, and for once, the joke is on Joker.
