So, did Liara just procreated with my femShep without her conscent?

Liara's still in the maiden stage so...she can't get pregnant.

That ninjamance isn't discrete anymore...

It had to be Walters virtual waifu.

The thing is, asari change stages when they are ready for it, not at certain age. Yes, there's some general age when asari change stages (like 350 for Matron and 700 for Matriarch), but it can be earlier. Or romanced Liara would discourage Shepard's idea of having blue children back in ME2.

Shep is 32 and people live about 150 years. Liara is 109 so if you take that general Matrona stage age, she has 241 year to go before she is even able to have any blue children. But the dialog still happens as it is without any remarks that would discourage the idea. Liara never says "I'd love to, but it is not possible due to my young age, don't have your hopes up"

I guess, those numbers in codex show common age for asari to change stages, not minimal age when it is possible. Like human common age of marrying and having children is 20+, but you still have cases of 12 year old pregnant girls from time to time.

I will be happy if future Mass Effect media never mentions Liara-Shep babies, even for romance. But I have a nasty feeling that BW won't pass the opportunity to make Shep's offsprings down the road.

She was just sharing her memory of what touching Shepard's mind was like for her. It showed you why the asari use the "embrace eternity" line to describe it. So rather than Shepard just closing their eyes for a second like in ME1, you got to see what it felt like for her.

She was just sharing her memories the way her people do.

Do you get mad if your friends of other religions share information about it? I hope not. She was just expressing herself as any Asari would to a friend that she has walked through hell with at least twice. Your Shep may not appreciate Liara as much as he does other squad mates, but if you were about to walk into the toughest, most deadly fight of your life with the lowest survival odds, anyone you call friend is important.

It's just a friendly gesture.

People complain about everything.

That.. wasn't a sex scene. The sex scene was on the ship prior to all of that.

Asari can trigger the stages ealier if they wish, but I'd imagine most allow them to happen naturally.  If you are arguing that Liara would trigger her Matron stage ~250 years early on Earth just to 'steal' babies from Shepard...then I don't even know what to say.

It was a non-sexual meld...just like not all touching is sexual (handshake).

It was a joke.

I don't think you have to worry about that.

The thing is that she is NOT a friend for my Shepard. She is just that creepy obsessive asari that has no concept of personal space and who follows Shep around no matter how badly Shep treats her.

And sharing memories is one thing, but cuddling with Shepard without choice to push her away is another. Especially when other, more close friends never get this much of attention as this random asari I don't even want to see nowhere near my Shep.

Tali? Salute (if you didn't make her to commit suicide before). EDI? Just a talk. Jack, Miri, Samara and Kasumi? Holocall.  Javik? Handshake if you choose so. Wrex? Just a talk, even without a cutscene. Mother? Just a mention somewhere in the game that she is fine.
Liara?
Dedicated scene with mind merging, stars and cuddling. You really don't see the problem here?

The game tells you directly who is the best friend here, not lets you choose him/her. If it was Dead Space, or Bioshok, or Metal Gear, or any other game with one single story, it would be fine. In those games players never had an input. But with ME this feels plain wrong.

Maybe she doubted Shepard's survival and wanted to preserve her unique DNA for future generations. Liara is well aware that with her life span she can live through all the harvesting cycle (which lasts hundreds of years). So, there's a time to raise another Shepard if current one fails.

After Revan-Bastila son, I'm sorry but I will worry about Shep-Liara children. BW has an example of discarding player choices when it comes to the future media.

So you're saying you wanted a renegade interrupt where you could shove her off? :P

If you don't like the scene, don't talk to Liara.

Given how asari reproduction works, it wouldn't be Shepard's DNA.

They'd also canonize Shepard as male, so your female Shepard's existence is already snuffed out as far as the 'canon' goes.

When I saw the episode with Liara I found it very sweet. She and my Shepard are very good friends. I was a bit taken a back at first because I didn't know what it was. I don't own the me1 so for me this sorta new. I have mix feelings about the last scene, since I romance Kaiden. I know that Liara will only do what is best and she does care for Shepard, since they are very close friends. What puzzle me was that Shepard doesn't look at Liara in the eyes after the scene but looks at Liara's hands and her own before saying thanks to her for the gift.

As I read this thread I sorta understood it might have been a memory or probably a vision for Shepard. Liara must have know that Shepard was scared even though she tried not show it and one way for Liara to make it better or reassure her would be to show her what she has to look forward to after she came back from this mission.

I agree. Liara has always been awkward. Whether your shepard was friendly with her or not, she admired him, so it makes sense that if you decide to talk to her that occurs. I do understand where people are coming from, because if they hate Liara it could be awkward.

But I think we have all kind of known that Bioware has nudged the Liara romance along, almost to the point of making it canon for their Shepard. I always felt like Liara got the best treatment out of all the LIs. (I personally love her). So, knowing Bioware pretty much loves Liara, if you hate her, don't talk to her. lol.

I feel like both Liara and Tali suffer backlash for being generally well-liked (among fans and devs), and it's not really the characters' fault.  As a character in her own right, Liara's sweet and supportive and I genuinely like her.  Does that mean I like the devs' ninjamancing?  No, I find it annoying, but I still appreciate Liara as a friend.

I get the same impression from Liara that I do from Garrus.  Regardless of whether the relationship is platonic or friendly, these characters really care about Shep as a person, and I thought her final scene was precious.
