While it isn't a -true- AR, the Raptor Sniper Rifle, reminds me strongly of the Mattock from ME2, only now we get a nice built in scope, and a greater ammo reserve.

If you are a soldier, take a Revenant with incendiary rounds, upgrade it fully, and take Marksman as your bonus skill. Bad, terrible things will happen to anything that gets in your way. Nothing can match it in damage, not even close.
I was under the impression (also according to Wikia) that Marksman/Adrenaline rush DO NOT stack.

The Particle Beam Rifle, it's stupidly overpowered with Incendary ammo and extended ammo, after a couple of seconds sustained fire the beam sort of 'expands' and does some silly arse multiplier damage.
Made my insanity run feel like casual.

They don't. He's probably talking about replacing adrenaline rush with marksman.

Yeah, I've no idea what the specific multiplier is. On the Priority: Tuchanka mission, I got my first Eye of the Hurricane point when I was boxed in by a Brute - he was on his way to smash face and started beating his chest pre-charge at the same time my trusty lazor cranked up to Death Star mode, and by the time he reached me he'd been melted.
After that little incident I don't use any other AR. It's like an unholy lovechild of the Vindicator and the Revenant.

Which class are you? Do you have "From Ashes"? Are you a good shot or do you prefer to "spray and pray"?spectakular28 wrote...

to me the obvious choice woud be a fully upgraded revenant or mattock - argus or saber if you have them - It really comes down to your playing style...spectakular28 wrote...

I myself lean on the versatility side (avenger) although it makes for a tough ride

I came to the same conclusion as far James and Garrus are concerned - at least for long to mid range engagements; in close quaters constant grenades toss make biotics teammates indispensable.JimLiedeka wrote...
My soldier Shep has had good luck with both the particle rifle and the mattock. I did Palaven with Garrus, James and Shep using particle rifles and ammo powers. That was fun. I've stuck to running with Garrus and James. Who needs biotics when you can just kill everything?
I try to limit Garrus/James weapon loadout to automatic guns ( revenant/phaeston ) and widow/claymore for secondary/backup...

I never really used it because it weighed about as much as a sack of bricks... Might have to give it another chance on my next playthrough though.Stardusk wrote...
Valkyrie is the best overall AR, no doubt, balanced and powerful in most regards.

I don't really know what metric Stardusk is judging the Valkyrie by, because his comments on it just don't tally with its actual stats. In terms of performance-to-weight ratio it sits somewhere near the very bottom in the game.
Put simply, its not particularly more effective than the Vindicator, but weighs as much as the Revenant and Particle Rifle. It's crap. The only reason I refrain from calling it 'the worst' is because I've no idea whether its actually worse than the Argus... I just can't be bothered to check, as I know they're both rubbish for what they weigh.
If you really want to wield it, just mod your Coalesced.bin and set your minimum cooldown to be something less than -200%. Its simply isn't anywhere near good enough to be wielded by itself.
