They wanted an Emotional Reaction.

Six years of build up and then a complete let down WOULD create a huge reaction.

But then again, so would telling somebody you love them for three weeks and then when they're smiling at you lovingly kicking them in the daddy-bags.

It's an  emotional reaction, yes.  A cheap, mean and easy way to GET one, but the fact that we're all talking about it may have been the plan all along.

If this was the plan... my opinion of the writers and franchise has just sunk lower.  And If I hear "Small but vocal minority" even ONCE in the official response...  (No, I don't count the "Gaming Press")
