So I haven't been able to play ME3 once yet, let alone see the opening cinematic or character creation screens.
The splash screen loads fine, with "Press any key" up: follow the instruction, and the main menu starts to load, before "Connecting to EA servers" causes my system to lock up with a horrid droning sound on loop. Can't CTRL-ALT-DEL it all, can't switch tabs. Total system freeze.
I've updates on my drivers, game, origin. I've downloaded the two replacement .dll files. I've tried running the game with Origin in offline mode (Why the **** does THAT still cause the "Connecting..." crash?!). My system is up to spec and has comfortably played the last two ME games.
Solutions would be gratefully received. Seriously, EA/Bioware, I haven't had this much trouble launching a game since the late 90s. This is beyond pathetic. It's especially annoying that I didn't have a single problem with the last two entries on the same machine.
Game freezes to death before main menu

I'm currently running XP SP3, with an ATI HD5600 on a dual Intel chipset. Probably worth mentioning that I've tried running it with my software firewall turned off (despite not having a single game ever have problems with it, and ME3 appearing in the list of exceptions within it).

Three separate chats on the official support has got me nowhere. Tried deleting all temp files, ending non-essential processes and applications, turning off my firewall...
Jesus ****ing Christ, guys. I've paid £50 for a shiny DVD box, didn't I? Looks like I'm left not playing the damn thing until you grace us with a fix.
Again, and I really must stress this here, the problem arises with the game trying to connect to the EA servers, EVEN IN OFFLINE MODE, and taking the whole computer down with it.
