Spike Thrower weighs pretty light, does more damage, is WAY more accurate, and best of all can be charged up for massive damage. If yer looking for a shotty, this is the one.

Alot of people don't like the spike thrower because it has travel time and they can't calculate distance from target divided by projectile speed.

It is insanely accurate for sure though, plus it synergizes well with incen ammo. Double DoT.

Javelin is meant for shooting through FULL walls at stationary enemies.

There is no way a Widow can do that.

Also it isn't a quick-reflex weapon like the Widow and like I said meant for shooting stationary targets.

Though I can see how this weapon is bad on consoles due to lack of quick-aiming.

lol i have no problem quick  aiming with it on my console at all you just lost steam here you do know that right i can hit anyting with my javelin regardless of what plateform its on and switch faster then a computer player on zoom on my xbox then i do on my pc let see zoom fire   keep zoom  move to the next target as i just sqeezed off the last round reload  with x then fire again with out un zooming my scope 3 target down  while pc player has to unzoom to reload

Relax man.

Honestly most people aren't that good with weapons that have such mechanics (Graal for instance) and that's where I got that general statement.

If you can overcome that weakness, good for you.

I hate all you people with these fancy weapons. The best thing I've gotten is a Wraith and I'm not even fond of close range classes. Other than that I've gotten repeat unlocks of the Disciple shotgun and classes I already have.

The Wraith is awesome. Weighs as much as the ME2 shotguns (light), and packs more punch than any of them and most other shotguns (apart from Charged Spike/GPS or Claymore).

The only downside to it is how rare the weapon level ups are.

Meh. Reading the title I thought you might actully be able to get the singleplayer Collectors Edition weapons in coop :S Want my slugloaded shotgun that can shot through walls and do more dmg then the charged GPS/ Spike or Claymore without any chargeup. Full-auto heavy pistol would be nice too :P

Javelin (Sniper)
- The only thing going for it is the ability to see through smoke. Sniping through thin-cover is already capable with the Widow. Other than that the charge-up time makes getting headshots harder. Useless weapon IMO

To its credit, it does great in single player with time compression modifications/Adren Rush, etc. But yeah, the charge up time really wrecks it for MP. Much easier to headshot a moving target with a light tap on a Widow.

M 77 Paladin (Pistol)
- 4 rounds before you need to reload (without mods). Also only 16 on reserve. This gun is a beast, but the limited ammo really kills it. You REALLY need to make your shots count with this gun or else you lose out on its potential. The damage difference between it and the Carnifex is negligible considering you need to camp beside an ammo box to put up solid DPS. As a backup weapon it is worth while, but if you are using it as a main weapon the Carnifex would be the better choice IMO

An amazing weapon for a class that doesn't need to use its gun much (pretty much Chargenova Vanguards).

Scorpion (Pistol)
- Acts like a mini sticky-grenade. IMO useless except if you want to fool around. Fun gun though.

Also amazing for Chargenova Vanguards. Anything that lets you quickly take out Guardians or similar hard targets with minimum time wasted.

Sabre and Black Widow are the best N7 weapons.

Not sure about the Sabre, but the Black Widow was pretty stupid good in SP. Lost out to the Javelin for me, but it was good until I got it.

Same, I have a level 7 diciple now, every level has been a gold unlock from a  spectre pack, I also have the wraith 3 though but that gun sucks. Stuffl like the sabre, paladin, black widow are nowhere to be seen after probably buying 50+ packs :(

the black widow can be used with Marksmen ( Turian Soldier) with devistatging effect provided you spec'd it for 25% extra headshot damage and a fire rate bump.... Can take out Pyros with two shots that are less than a second apart (Gold)

Try it, works great on Silver.. Gold there are better strategies like using inflitrators but hey... its something different

Black Widow does naughty, naughty things to heavily armored targets such as Atlas, Brute and Geth Prime.

Paladin is great as long as you build your strategy around hanging out near an ammo box. The only real issue it has in MP is that the Carnifex gets upgraded much faster.

I suspect that if you got a Wraith upgraded to the point where you could reliably two-shot shielded targets on Gold, it would be decent. A Salarian Infiltrator with a Claymore is still going to be superior in most cases, but a Human Soldier could clean out two close-quarters targets in a big hurry.

No luck with opening any other N7 guns as yet.

I was under the impression that the Wraith is way, way lighter?

Nope,
weighs the same as an Evisc in MP. Has 2/3 the ammo capacity of an
Evisc and does ~40% more damage (eyeballing it from the damage mod bar).

Do people really have problems with Guardians? Charge knocks back the shield. You shotgun them in the head, which is constantly positioned so you can line it up during the charge. I regularly take out two in a charge. If my aim was off (happens) nova also knocks back the shields and the other two races have pull and stasis, which are the two hard counters to guardians.

i never had a problem with guardians. you just aim for the hole in their shield and they go down really fast.

I wish we could switch fortunes, you and I. I got almost nothing but sniper rifles and pistols in the demo. Granted, I was loving my Phalanx IX, but I would very much prefer your shotgun luck. I'm a CQC man at heart.

I'm sure you'd like:

-The Wraith
-Disciple III
-The Claymore
-2 Krogan Soldier unlocks
-Consumable capacity increases
-Eviscerator
-Scimitar

I can choose from 6 shotguns, compared to 2 of every other weapon.

Nah, they're easy to drop with a Phalanx or M3. Unless that stupid Engineer keeps spamming Overload, or lets his drone attack it from the front.

The Scorpion is just good for fire and forget. Load somebody up and move on to the next target.

I have the graal and the wraith. I haven't had a chance to use the wraith yet but stat wise it doesn't come close to the graal (which is a seriously awesome gun.) but to say it's light is just wrong. it's the heaviest gun in the game. For awhile I was just using it to try and keep the load light. I ended up putting a locust back in for balance though. I want the raptor or it's better equivalent. I can't remember the name of it. I like the snipers but the reload speed is just SO slow with them.

Depends, the higher accuracy is actually the biggest flsaw for everyone that just thinks it is more accurate. The flechettes it fires fly considerably slower than the instant-hit projectiels form other weapons, meaning on range, you have to lead your target AND hope it doesn't stop or turn.

If you can do that reliably, then it is no doubt one of the best shotguns, but if you can't, you're better off with something else.

But the sound is sexy!

Don't forget its almost impossible to upgrade N7 weapons due to their rarity. 99% of the time you get a char package thrown in your face (even if you unlocked all appearance options!).

Too true. I hate that so much. All these fake unlocks when half the time the store doesn't even work for me now are really frustrating.

The only n7 weapon i've got is the hurricane.
And it's worthless as a main weapon. It's only really good if you're going to put it as a back up weapon on a character. The notable exception to the hurricane is that it's great for taking out some large targets such as an atlas as there's so much target to hit that the unpredictable recoil is easy to deal with.

I've since put it on a few characters that I use it in 1 of 2 ways.

My salarian engineer primarily uses a pistol (I just use the standard one with an x rating so I still have 200% recharge) and I added the hurricane.. gives me +165% recharge after and if somethign gets close I just switch to the hurricane don't aim and go nuts. Tends to do the trick.

I have also put it on a krogan shotgunner who when ammo ran out and was in the middle of it can pull out the hurricane to help out..

I wish there was a recoil mod for SMG's so I could make the hurricane a bit more bearable!

The hurricane is great even as a main weapon. Try firing it from cover and you shouldn't have any problems with excessive recoil. Out of cover, it's strictly a close range weapon and should be hip fired, which takes care of a lot of the perception of the hurricane as an unpredictable weapon.
