Here is how you make an alternate ending DLC without changing or breaking the current ending - We go to Ilos

that beam took you to i guess the inner workings of the citadel. the conduit just took you to the presidium
Yes, but in ME1 Shepard opened up the Citadel arms from the council chambers. That's the goal of getting to the beam, to open up the citadel arms. You would think their first thought would be to try what they did before, instead of fighting all the way to a beam of light which they have no idea where it leads.

Brilliant idea, unfortunately you'd have to walk to the conduit without a vehicle.
Or fly into the conduit with Cortez in the shuttle.

I'm pretty sure Hackett can spare a Hammerhead or a Mako.

Might have to revise your plan a bit.

Cue Shepherd waking up in rubble, the push towards the conduit on Earth failed. Everybody is like 'oh no we're ****ed' when suddenly Kaidan or Ashley is like "Hey, remember Illos? What if we go there?" and then the fleet and war assets you assembled have to hold Earth while you desperately fly across the galaxy to get to Illos.

I won't buy any DLC unless it's something along these lines. I don't want Omega, or a new squad-mate; I want closure, and this seems like a good way to get it.

This would be a great way of implementing an alternate ending, with the added bonus that it wouldn't alter the core of the game. When all this talk of ending DLC cropped up, I got to wondering if was even going to be possible for Bioware to add things to the ending without doing a major overhaul.
And once you finish playing, it could just spit you back out at the Cerberus base, just like it does now.

It is beautifully written and does the ME Universe justice.

Seriously. Hackett had like 30 Makos parked at the final mission, but we still had to run to the beam of light in the last part of the game.
The alliance makes warfare look "ghetto." I mean compared to cerberus--who can afford to ressurect soldiers.

This bothered me too. The Alliance seem like they have no idea how to conduct ground warfare. And I'm pretty sure the Hammerhead would have been fast enough to get in the beam without much trouble.

If someone wants to synthesize, they are welcome. But I want blue babies, and Garrus living with Tali on Rannoch.

Maybe instead have it require X amount of readiness to move and repair the Conduit to Earth (hardly a sound strategy but whatever), then most of London and Major Coats can still take place.
Though theres more to fix then just the "choice" but it'd be a start.
