So are your claims.

His mission, weapon and the alternate armors that come with it aren't though. Javik is on the disc, everything else from From Ashes isn't.DBZMagus wrote...

I got nothing against you, mate, but that is such a weak argument... "It was in the script, blablabla..." Many things get cut from scripts and many things may be added or altered. (Tom Bombadil in Lord of The Rings was in the novel but not in the movie. Peter Jackson is such a liar...) We "who aren't stupid" (however stupid and childish we might seem) have very little insight into how the game was developed. We weren't there and have no reliable info either.
PC PLAYERS! Stop whining already about what you could hack and how you won't buy and why it is not stealing to pirate. Let's try and look like it's worth developing games for us and not just the console gamers. Stop crying and go play.

From Ashes is entirely on disc. You can actually change a bit of coding on the vanilla game to unlock the DLC without buying it.

How is it that they think that the prothean is something extra, and not an important part of the story?? DLCs are mainly created to support and provide extra bonus material to the story, such as new weapons, extra bonus missions, etc... By placing Javik and the material as a DLC, that also happened to come out on day 1 of the release of the game, they are simply stating that the protheans are not an important part of this story and he is just "bonus" material.
I guess their PR department do not know what exactly PR means...if they resort to lying to their customers in order to justify a huge mistake that they made. Sure, you can say he was on the disc to make it streamlined and easy to integrate into the game, although it doesnt hold much ground, but can you explain why the prothean and its content was sold seperately from the main game, when it is an integral part of the story? I had the luxury of playing the CE of Mass Effect 3, so I had a chance to experience the "paid DLC", and I can tell you that some parts are important enough to have its own chapter in the main story...something that should be found INSIDE the game...

Still doesn't explain why anyone sincerely believed that a living Prothean (aka one of the main plot points in the two previous games) was not important enough to be anything more than a little DLC add-on.

seriously tho, any other day 1 dlc would be more forgiving than a prothean. heck, if any, james vega should have been the dlc while javik should be part of the main story.
but i'm enjoying every bit of the game, thanks anyway bioware.
forgot to add, edit: PLEASE ADD TEXT CHAT to multiplayer. thanks.

"PC players"
I love it when there is always a huge outcry if one says "console players" or "consolites" or overall generalizing, but then they themself do the same against those who play on PC.

The correlation by several people on this forum discussing how a majority of the content regarding the character is not on the disk, only specific assets to make him functionale.
See, the way pre-production usually works is the formation of the script, concept art and design, and planning of events for the game. The script leaked was an old copy, everyone knows this now, because several people have found the main points on the script leaked to be missing in action. So, using common sense, its pretty clear that in the pre-production phase they must have shifted focus and decided on a few things that changes the nature of Javik.
Now, over a year ago, when the collectors edition version of the game was announced, it was promised that an extra character and mission would be given away to those who buy it. Common sense then dictates that they had something planned, otherwise making that announcement and then removing a character completely would be pointless and unethical.
And we know that after the game was submitted to certification, they created the Eden Prime mission for From Ashes, and added the major bits of Javik into the game, extra voice over lines, his moment on the citadel, locking in dialogue through other missions and so forth, the actual meat of the character, the performance of Javik, now has weight to it instead of being an avatar accessed through a command change.
I didn't think I needed to use common sense here, but since you asked so nicely...
The only way to have concrete proof is the production notes. The rest is supposition, that can be backed by common sense on all fronts, if you are being generous.

lol. taking what is not yours without consent of the owner is theft. stealing intellectual property is, therefore, theft, in spite of legal nomenclature. On the education subject: using your brain (i.e your innate ablilty to think, to understand things and find correlations) is often more useful than formal education (which I, incidentally, do not lack).
But since you made your suggestion, I suggest to you to learn to comprehend (written) texts before commenting on them.
To the other guy about piracy: That would not be piracy, but as it happens, only the framework was on the disk, and the mission does not work without the download.
Although (as my learned colleague above pointed out) I am not an expert on the legal details, I don't think you (we) actually own the game (or its parts), all you (we) bought was the right to play it.
Darn it, I didn't want to post again in this lame thread... there goes my credibility...

In march 2011, he also faced a roomful of Mass Effect developers who
expressed concern about hitting the promised holiday release date... New
release date set for March 2012. After much deliberation, the CAT
mission (or rather, the Prothean mission) had to be removed from the set
of tasks. The missions would later be completed as post-release
content"
So the Prothean mission was originally meant to be part of the full game, and wasn't always planned to be DLC as Bioware claimed. Why the lie?

Almost everyone here is either ****ing about the endings or "day 1 DLC".
Give me a break *eyeroll*
I for one loved the ending/s, loved the DLC that came with my collectors edition and am loving multiplayer since finishing the game (currently on my second playthrough as well).
Looking forward to seeing what else you guys have in store for Mass Effect 3
