I'm wanting to take a few levels in advance with the darkspawn blood quest but I'm wondering if all my companions WILL join me the same level as me always...

Do they?

Yes, they always join at the same level. I was level 16 when I recruited Oghren, and he joined me at Level 15. However, don't make the mistake that I did and take someone into a battle that has been sitting in camp for awhile before you remember to level them up lol oops.

So whats the best way to aquire party members at the lowest level? Go straight to Shale, then do Orzamar up till you get the Dorf. Go back to Lothering and finish up everything there and then do Circle Tower. Followed by the Rogue encounter?

I would try to get Wynne early. It is more annoying getting a mage late because there are so many spells to choose from and possible combinations. While warriors end up roughly the same, assuming you don't want to change their weapon style.
