So how exactly did Bioware expect players to win the Kai Leng fight on Insanity? 'Cause the fight pretty much goes Floor Explode>Insta-kill move or Floor Explode>Manage to roll away>Get gunned down while shooting or running.....sometimes for a change of pace Insta-kill move from 7 feet away instead.

Are we just supposed to hope he glitches and can't fight for reason?

who ever designed this fight was an idiot in my opinion theres so many flaws to it I can't be bothered to type it out but the only way to do it on insanity is by random chance that he kinda bugs out in one of the lower floor sections each time he destroys a section and just spamming him with the grenade launcher/ignite ammo

Just keep cover between you and him at all times. Easier said than done, but as more sections are opened the easier it becomes.

I found Kai Leng OK once you know what is happening. It was that last Marauder, after you kill the husks when shep is injured, that really got me. I'm wondering if that is easier if you have an upgraded pistol.

It's utterly brutal as a Vanguard. Doable... but... brutal.

There's a trick to it. All you have to do is--

*takes a Phantom sword through the back*

He was easy to beat as soldier. Only challenging part is when phantoms came.

Overload on Shep and squaddies helped a good bit. But yeah, phantoms screwed me the first four or five times I wen through the fight.

I finally beat him due to a bit of luck....but seriously, couldn't they have made at least some sort of QTE to try and resist the insta-kill move? Considering Shepard is the galaxy's Head Badass in Charge you'd think he'd be able to do something besides flail awkwardly and get murked by a douche with a sword.

I just beat this fight on Insanity and it was brutal; frustrated explitives were screamed. Although to be fair I got better at it each time I did it, so it really just took some practice and getting the pacing/pattern down. I was a Sentinel so if he snuck up on me I used Tech Armor to get him the **** off. When you are just fighting him one on one, I had EDI use Overload on him while I just gave him some assault rifle fire followed by 2 quick melees in a row repeatedly. I found that's the best way to keep him at bay.  I never got instant killed by him though, I always used my melee when he got close and that had me enter into a scripted animation where I ended up kicking him in the nuts to push him back.

When he calls in his support troops, I use Liara's singularity followed by a warp bomb to instantly get rid of them., finishing off any stragglers with EDI's incinerate or my gun. Being in cover is VERY important for this part, especially the final part with the phantoms. You have to really get creative with those phantoms. Good luck.

Nothing wrong with fighting Kai Leng on Insanity level. I did it fine, twice. Use powers (by squad mates also), roll to dodge, use key F when he uses Melee attack on you, use medigels, stay alive for 3 waves. That's why it's called Insanity. I actually find the game easy compared to the insanity level of games like doom3.

Shotgun almost point blank (will knock Kai back a bit) and stay out of the way...take out gun soldiers instantly, ignore Phantoms. Sentinel on hard, took me a few tries.
Main cause of death getting gunned down running from Kai.
Also LMAO at his animation.

Seriously. Any banshee is more dangerous than Leng. Even a phantom. Leng just runs away from you all the time, only his goons try to do some damage. Insta kill? Again, look at the banshee. Vs Leng, just mash F. Basically, what Thane said: this assassin should be ashamed.

Actually, what I did was to kill all the phantoms and whichever enemies were dropping down. There are 3 waves of them. Once you killed the last one, the cutscene showing Kai Leng defeated takes over. Because (on Insanity level) no matter how many overload, incinerator and other power attacks and sniper rifle hits Kai Leng takes, his health bar remains intact. So all gamer has to do is focus on the emerging enemies and eliminate them while watching out for Leng's attack.

I wouldn't say it is impossible at all. For sure is a pain in the ass. I would recommend a soldier when playing insane but that's just me. How i did it was I brought Liara and of course EDI with me. EDI's overload and decoy are great for this battle and Liara's singularity is great, especially if you have it fully upgraded with quick recharge. Don't focus on leng too much. The waves only progress when you knock out his shields. Take your time. Use decoys to distact him. When he first regenerates his shields two sets of troopers drop down on both sides of him. Use singularity on one side, then shoot the other two troopers. Keep doing that. They should die quickly. When he goes to regenerate again more troopers will drop down along with a Nemeisis. Use singularity on the troops and then overload the nemesis. That will make quick work of her. Don't be afraid to use cover, and stay away from leng. Use your medi gel when needed. You Should have 8 by now. It also helps to have something to protect yourself more like fortification, defense matrix, etc. I used DM which helped tremendously. The final wave is phantoms. Do not focus on Leng at all. The phantoms are your enemies. A decoy is nice every now and then. You should have saved your grenades. Feel free to grenade spam them. EDI's overload does work on their barriers. Once those are down they should go down quickly. If you take out their barriers it is good to send them flying with singularity so you can focus on the other ones. Once you have taken out the phantoms all you have left is Leng. He should be damaged a bit by now from the cross fire. He goes down quickly, especially once his shields are gone. There you go, you best him.

Yah I can see that fight being stupidly hard on insanity...

IMO Kai Leng should have not even been in the game, he was uninteresting and dull.

Yes Kai Leng is insane. hehehe

Pretty much what kills Kai Leng is his need to explode the floor and create cover areas for you and your squad.

Biotic combos can stun him or use mass overload.

Only took me two or three tries. I just did it last night. You think that's hard, just wait until the missle launcher part at the very end

BTW I was playing a maxed out lvl 60 sentinel with garrus and edi as squaddies.  Triple overload FTW

It was really easy as infiltrator. Just drain his sheild, use your team mates. And kill the phatoms first before dealing with kai leng. Killing his shield makes him easy.
