So how exactly did Bioware expect players to win the Kai Leng fight on Insanity? 'Cause the fight pretty much goes Floor Explode>Insta-kill move or Floor Explode>Manage to roll away>Get gunned down while shooting or running.....sometimes for a change of pace Insta-kill move from 7 feet away instead.

Are we just supposed to hope he glitches and can't fight for reason?

I just ran after him all the time and meleed him (the weaker form of melee, it's faster). When he goes to recharge I hid for cover killed off the soldiers (Had Liara Use Statis Bubble on two, I used Concussive Shot on 1 and EDI did whatever power she have on the last one).

Then I repeated it. It was over in less then 4 minutes.

edit: Yes on Insanity.

Kai Leng wasn't that hard on insanity.....you just have to keep moving when he's chasing you but other than that it's pretty easy....he runs away from you when he wants to explode a floor and stays still for long enough afterwards for you to eliminate his cerberus helpers. I guess the larger threat of the bunch was the lone phantom but even that was a push-over if you're aware of her presence and focus powers and fire on her early.

As for real difficulty wait until you come face to face with the greatest hero of the mass effect universe.....Marauder Shields.....he really IS the single hardest enemy in the whole game. You'll be wishing you were fighting three Kai Lengs instead.

I thought this fight was really, really easy, but then again I play as an Infiltrator with the Black Widow and spend most of it stealthed.

I used Tali and Edi as teammates... Keep Tali's Combat/Defense drones and EDI's Decoy up at all times.

Then, I simply one shotted pretty much all the adds, with EDI or Tali hitting shielded opponents with Overload or Energy Drain, then one shotting them with a headshot, Phantom's included.

I can see it being a pretty tough fight without stealth, though.

Incinerate kills Kai Leng for me. EDI for the win. But yeah, he's very hard to dodge in Insanity.

I didnt even bother with Kai. i just killed all the cerberus soldiers that came down from the ceiling, once you kill the last wave of phantoms Kai stops whatever he's doing and runs into the middle of the room and falls over dead.....regardless of how much damage you have/haven't done to him

I guess it's a lot easier on PC. I paused a lot, and was playing Vanguard. Beat him the third time. I was basically spamming charge nova. When he re-charge I charge his minions. Teammates were on power spam order. After a few Nova and shotgun in the face, he went down pretty quick.

Not true....it's easier on whatever control interface and character class you're best used to. I beat Kai Leng on the 360 as an infiltrator with Tali and EDI as my companions....Tali is a clearly close range character but I specifically chose her for her Drain Shields ability and EDI for Overload....I kept my distance taking care of the troops and fully focusingmy squad on Leng's shields....I took those down FAST....he didn't have a whole lot of time to do much chasing around. Once his shields were down it took one headshot from me to end the fight and he had near full health. Hell I didn't even use any medpacks.

All in all the Infiltrator's cloak is one hell of a power.

Anyone having any trouble with ME3 on insanity, just use infiltrator, it borders on being too easy.

I cannot speak for other classes but my Sentinel had no problems with him on insanity. Edi and I overloaded his shields while Liara did crowd controlling the Cerbs with the occasional biotic explosion. As for Kai Leng close combat. Keep spamming the melee button and you will win the encounter easily.

I found the fight really easy as a soldier. Just adrenaline rush and burn down as many enemies as u can then run around the room until all of them are dead. Rinse and repeat. Phantoms went down in 3 shots with the black widow.

So, as I just died about 20 times to him a few more pointers

For the first and second wave, please note that Kai doesnt get back into battle until its only 2 of em left. During the Phantom Wave, he goes active when the first phantom is dead ...

I found Kai Leng OK once you know what is happening. It was that last Marauder, after you kill the husks when shep is injured, that really got me. I'm wondering if that is easier if you have an upgraded pistol.

He has a name you know....

His name was Marauder Shields.

Have Liara in your team, Her Stasis and Singularity comes in handy.

And dear god, he was easy to beat even in the insanity difficulty.

LOL Kai Leng. More like Fail leng as a boss.

guys. guys. it is sooo easy.

Target him, press Z (teammates focus fire) this give you the 25% damage boost your teammates need to shield him down all the way to make him constantly slam the ground instead of coming for you.

You take care of the mobs. It should be easy, since SP weapons are pretty overpowered relative to SP foes.

As a vanguard, god, it is easy mode. Just spam charge and shoot stuff to death.

Meleeing in SP is almost useless. Once you die, it's over. Just shoot the gun you have.

Regarding Mr. Darkninjashadowvenomassassin and his inferior colleages aka Phantoms:

Has everyone ever tried the hint that is mentioned in the loading screen?
Destroying a Phantom's sword.
I tried and tried and tried. In my first paylthrough (hardcore) I did reload and changed to insanity so that the Phantom would last longer and I could try more often. I never managed to the sord destroyed.
Is that a bug or a feature?
Or is it just my incompetence rgarding sword-smashing?

Its not impossible, but it's insane sometimes. If you pick Garrus and EDI as squadmates and you are an Engineer, just overload spam him and focus your weapon fire on the Cerberus troops he brings in. Focusing on the troops he brings in is the only way to kill him but if you don't keep an eye out for him he will insta kill you.

The person that designed that boss fight though is idiotic, he's able to hit you even when your in cover because all the cover is on lower ground so your forced to keep moving which will get you killed if your not fast. Keep at it though, it just makes that scene where you stab him with your Omni blade more satisfying.

Kai Leng was easy for my Engineer on Insanity. I kept throwing my turret and drones down and ran around the map while the bastard chased my Shep and got shot by them and my squadmates.

I don't see the difficulty in the battle. I mean... okay I played as an OP soldier and OP adept vs Kai Leng... the first was just firing and unleashing all offensive hell on him while with the Adept I did Biotic Detonations endlessly with Liara & Javik in my squad.

But he was still a pushover on Insanity. If you have a solid build then nothing can get in your way.

... Easy??? I was running away from him and invisible/sniping him all "LOL SCREW YOU" ... just doing a lot of running because oh god I'm sick of having to redo this battle like three times already.

...I should have thought of doing shield drain but I really really really just wanted to shoot him in the face with the widow :P

Hint: Don't waste ammo on Kai Leng until you've finished off all his sidekicks. Then let rip. A Falcon or Revenant should help, with a shotgun in case things get hairy.
