God I love this thread, and any other posts or articles from people who think we are all just a bunch of crybabies, even though they haven't seen the ending for themselves.

SO TRUE!
Just to see them come back here and join us lol

I admit that I thought that it couldn't be THAT bad either as ppl were saying.
....It's been 2 days now and I'm still not over the ending....

4 combinations of 4 dynamic elements does not 16 alternate endings make. By that logic, Mass Effect 2 has 244 "alternate endings".

There are hundreds if not thousands of endings if you count the number of ways that Commander Shepard's armor can be configured as well as the number of color combinations. And then there are the crewmen that appear at the end!

Wow. This game has THOUSANDS of endings! Perhaps changing the primary color of Commander Shepard's armor to BLUE will please you more?

Seriously, guys. Only one route to end the game. Up to 3 categories of endings to choose from. Several subcategories of far less significance. Even more minor variations of no real surprise (like your love interest making a quick on-screen appearance).

Well said.

So it's been reported that there are 16 endings...plus one more if you import a games plus finish after you beat ME3. Now for all the people complaining about the end, I'm curious how many endings have you seen, and have you seen the game plus finish. Or is all the hoopla because you didn't like the 1 of a possible 17 outcomes that you happened to get.....and thus think Bioware sucks

You do realize that these "16 possible endings" are exactly the same with minor color variations, right?

There are only 3 endings. How many of those 3 you can access and the state of Earth afterwards is the only thing that changes in those "16" endings.

There are three endings. The *order* in which you get them (with different war asset levels) depends on whether you kept or destroyed the collector base in ME 2.
The Destroy ending has four variations.
The Control ending has two variations.
The Synthesis ending has no variations.

One of the Destroy endings is counted twice under each category. There really are only three endings, with six variations between them. The IGN site counts each variation as a "different" ending, but they're not that different.

I just beat the game and I cannot even explain how much it was like I'd been slapped. All of that wonderful story, and THAT trite crap was the best you could come up with for an ending? I got about every war asset in the galaxy (close to 7k) and this was it? I don't mind Shepard dying so much, but the rest was so awful. The Mass Relays being destroyed was bad (that's one way to say there isn't a Mass Effect 4), the complete non-sequitor of the Normandy being involved in a jump at the time of the explosion, and the end scene with the grandfather. Where was the epiloque? Where was the creativity? People invest time in these characters and we see NOTHING after what happened. Even the endings were essentially a color swap.

The game was outstanding up until this. Bioware really blew it.

There is only one ending. With three different colors. Period.

Yup. I couldn't put it better myself.

No matter what you do, everything and everyone you love... it's all just gone.

Dont know if someone else has already done the obligatory joke but:

Ah yes "multiple endings" that take into account your decisions and readiness... we have dismissed that claim.

I kind of feel a bit like Shepard at the beginning of the game.

"You've started this thread to confirm what you already know:  The endings are terrible."
"Then, how do we stop them."
"Stop them?  This isn't about choices or resources.  This is about picking which lightshow you get to see."

OP. we are telling you. There are only 3 endings that are somewhat different from each other. They all have SLIGHT variations but they arent huge. 3 colors, 3 endings. Choices in the series don't mean anything, you pick one of them at the end.

I disagree. Choices may not mean anything in the ending, but my choices have meant plenty into scenarios throughout the game and have been interesting to see them playout.

Just finish the game and talk to us again.

Agreed. I was in the same camp as the OP. I thought it was just the internet whining like the internet does. But the fact of the matter is the last 15 minutes of Mass Effect 3 are absolute garbage. Not only is there no consequence, but none of it makes any sense. The tragedy is it undermines all 39 hours 45 minutes of prior brilliance. And as a final insult, we don't even get an epilogue to see what the long term consequences of our decisions are (which makes this a step back from Dragon Age Origins in terms of closure).

I don't think the OP is here, one of their comments said they were finishing it tomorrow(today now) so I'm not sure why they are even in this thread, I stayed completely out of it until end.
But now my 2cents, I could be fine with everything up to and including the choice. I would prefer some conversation with the kid before choice. It is from the explosion on that has kept me from going back in and playing my female shepard evan though I want Jennifer Hale's voice, I did my Tali romance first (another disappointment no rendered face or even in focus picture)

3 endings, 3 colors. That's it.
I wanna know something: Spoilers ahead, but spoilers are allowed:

How the hell did Javik teleport himself from my side during the final war to the Normandy during the ending crash? By that logic, how did all my squad members teleport themselves from ground to the Normandy, assuming the difficulty of a pickup at the time.
And why the hell was the Normandy going all FTL at the end? Shouldn't it have been in the middle of battle with every other ship and Reaper?
And why is it that Harbinger only shows up for ONE minute?
And where the F*CK does Reaper God Child come from? Who the **** came up qith that ****!? I came up with a far better ending in 2 minutes!!!!

You basically pick a color of light. At least thats all it feels like with how terrible everything is.

I don't understand, what was the OP's intention?

"I noticed thousands of people over a period of two weeks seem vehemently against the ending. I read on a website that there are lots of endings. Maybe every single one of you just happened to miss that."

Oh yeah, you're right. Everything single one of us who complain simply picked the wrong ending, and before bothering to look into whether there was an alternative, we registered accounts to write 3-page essays detailing our despair. Just like the infamous forum flood of 2010 when thousands of angry ME2 players converged into BSN to complain about how terrible it was the Shepard's entire squad had to die during the last mission.

Those "endings" are something like Witcher 2 epilog- we just leave world in some condition which is similar but not the same. Problem is- Witcher will be continued. It's good to have so many changes in world as we know it'll have impact. And in ME3 we're left in darkness (or as Sheppard- in the pile of rubble)

I'm trying to figure out if you're being sarcastic or not. you really had to work to get the everyone dies ending for ME2.
