Fun fact: that marauder you kill right before the beam?

That's the last enemy you fight in the entire Mass Effect trilogy.

Let that sink in.

I didn't have a problem with seeing Shepard so physically beaten, meaning I'm glad that they included it. It actually hit me really hard, as we had never seen the hero in such a state. I was extremely worried with what may have happened to Garrus and Liara, as I thought they had been with me during the run sequence but were now nowhere to be found (apparently they randomly decided to head back to the Normandy for an impromptu space tour). And even though he just got blasted by Harbinger itself, Shepard found it in himself to keep pressing on and get to that damn beam. I loved the slow motion sequence. I loved everything up until we ascend to space heaven.

Never saw my squad the entire time I ran and I never looked back... So idk what you are talking about there with your LI in your squad.

When Shepard recovered from the beam, Tali was lying dead in front of him.

Here are my thoughts after the reaper went pew pew:

1. Wow, what a great way to end the series. Shepard looks like he will die while saving the galaxy.

2. Beamed up - ok everything looks good, wtf were all the posts regarding a bad ending about? (I saw them on the forums, but chose not to read)

3. Man I wish TIM would have been a badass boss fight against a super reaper human.

4. What an amazing way to end Captain Anderson! Those fools on the forums were idiots.

5. What the ****, why am i speaking to a mystical beam of light.

6. Wow alright - these choices are kinda limited but seem ok overall, I guess I will choose synthesis.

7. Wait....every relay was destroyed, doesn't that kill everything in each solar system they were in (ME2: Arrival)?

8. Wait...if the citadel is the boss of all reapers doesnt that completely destroy the plot of prothean scientists planting a virus (ME1)?

9. Why the hell is Joker flying away from a fight to save the galaxy without any explanation?!

10. WHY IS LIARA GETTING OFF INTO JUNGLE LAND WHEN SHE WAS IN LONDON WITH ME!?

11. Now i understand what all the forum posts were about...

I thought it was great. Thought the showdown with TIM was great.

And then the platform rose, and the game suddenly became this incomprehensible metaphysical nonsense with a bunch of things happening with no explanation whatsoever.

My sentiment is exactly the same.

I wasn't that nervous about it. After dealing with the laser sighting objective, dodging that thing and sprinting down the hill would have been cake...if not for the railroading where my character suddenly couldn't run or execute nimble side rolls. He was busy being shaken which is B.S. That should have been a relative cakewalk. But nooo, like the mission with Victus' son, you couldn't use your biotics to save him. And with this, you couldn't even use your controls to save yourself.

It was awesome. I remember thinking: "Holy ****, this is it. I'm finally going to see how the Mass Effect trilogy concludes."

And then...yeah.

When my Shep recovered, Kadian was dead, staring into space with his eyes open.

yea see one game that did it right, MGS4. That ending scene as your body is coming apart and you keep going that was epic.
This one i just thought well crap i didn't dodge that beam.
Then well everyone else knows what goes on after that.
Personally i was expecting it to be like me1 where you get there, have to fight through some stuff have a great boss battle since they had 3 games to think of something epic and save the damn galaxy. I also was expecting my crew to come into it at some pt, people deflecting beams with barriers etc, Normandy doing a close flyby and blowing that damn reaper to pieces as i was running

But nope, nothing.
Like all that i just did in this game was pointless.
I was let down in the hardest way.
I've never been so let down by a game to be honest.

and on a side note even in MGS4 you can have a happy ending at the end of it all, and you know what? There's not a damn thing wrong with having a happy ending, its why we strive to beat the bloody game and work hard at completing goals. Leaving people pissed off or depressed or frustrated at the end might Lead you to believe you're some kind of powerful writer that evokes emotion but really at that point you're just being a douche to everyone who's supported you for 3 games.

I loved this scene.

Even the slow mo wounded Shep. I thought it was awesome. For me everything was great until that damn platform started to rise.

This is exactly how I feel. The run was pretty epic. On my 2nd run through I ran backwards for the lolz.

I wanted to run outside of Harbinger's line-of-sight... but noooooo^^

But seriously, awesome moment, one of the best parts of the game. Also loved the part that preceded it, after going through all of those Banshees etc., Anderson tells you it gets worse... "Of course it does..."

Pretty much everything from Shepard's final speech, up to the glowing elevator that takes you to the WTF level is just amazing. Shepard gets up after taking a reaper death beam to the face? Bad ass. Shepard fights off indoctrination to put a round in TIM, awesome. Anderson tells Shepard he's proud of her? I cried. Hackett calls, and Shepard, bunt and bleeding out, is all, "What do you need me to do?" Because, once again, she's the flipping energizer bunny of bad ass. She passes out on the platform... and then...

But the run to the beam reminded me so much of the last Mako run to the conduit. I LOVED the symmetry.

It literally sent shivers down my spine. And put a gigantic knot in my stomach. I've never been in this much shock while playing a videogame, ever.

Not only did the sheer gruesomeness of it get to me (I really felt sick playing through the ending sequence), but I really, really thought that was how ME3 would end--Shepard dying within inches of defeating the Reapers.

I felt that sequence was amazing, running alongside tanks, troops, etc in a mad dash to the only way to save the galaxy. Stuff was blowing up, Harbinger looming menacingly in the distance shooting at us. Then I get hit, and blackout and I'm thinking oh cool I'm probably going to have to make it to the Citadel myself, and probably rejoin Bailey and C-Sec fighting my way to some control point like in ME1. Luckily I did like all my Citadel Defense Force stuff. Then, none of that happened... instead I limped my way to an unsatisfying ending. Anyways yeah, freaking loved that suicide charge though, brilliant concept.

I thought that it was a very uncharacteristic scene to put in this game... and that's what was so amazing about it. That last-ditch effort to reach the Crucible. Seeing all of the forces wiped out as you charge headfirst into Harbinger, an unstoppable juggernaut... only to be humbled and brought to your knees. It felt odd seeing Shepard weakened and limping, using his remaining energy to save the day, but it only made the feelings of the final events all the more intense.
