How does romances work in ME3 with ''clean slate'' new characters?

I created a brand new Vanguard this morning and ive almost finished the game, but i would like to get a romance done before i finish the game later tonight.

I created my very first male character, what are my options?

Just Ashley, Liara, Traynor and Cortez right?

EDIT - Just did some research and somehow i can romance Diana and Kaidan as well. 

Do these clean slate new characters have any inbuilt romance directions in them? Since there is no history to read from, and no past relationships to build on, is it possible to start from scratch in ME3?

Oh and... umm... how do you start the relationships in this game as all mine have been for my canon Femshep - which romanced Liara in ME1.

Traynor is not an option for Sheploo. She's purely for FemShep. And I think you just have to 'paragon' choice during dates/conversations. Just watch what you're clicking. It should be decently obvious.

EDIT: Also I believe Kaidan is available for Sheploo

I am putting all my willpower into finishing the game with a male Shep, as all my previous attempts in previous games... never got very far in before giving up.
