It's only been six months between the two games. If there's a kid involved... Well he was never exclusive to start with then.
Eh you can know you're pregnant pretty early on. The kid's not born yet. The woman he cheated on Shepard with is still pregnant.

And also, maybe it's just me, but how well do you even know his personality? You knew him for a few months at best, and all his dialogue either involves his military history, or his dad. The romance just has some cheesy pornlike pick-up lines, and a creepy sex scene.

Yeah right, like white men don't cheat, either. lmao...
Agreed it's not even a sterotype. Unless you associate anything negative with non-whites. In which case, who cares about your opinion anyway.

You can say "bastard" on BSN. (For the record.)

You can use that logic to justify all the ME2 Lis cheating on Shepard. >_> And yes including Tali & Garrus because shep was dead for most of the time they've "known" each other. So no.
As for the romance you clearly haven't played it.
Not to mention jacob is a very up front guy (this is the guy who flat out tells FemShep what happened between him and Miranda and also bluntly tells shep he's working for Cerberus despite it being unbeneficial to do so.). So yeah I'm not seeing him cheating on Shep. Leaving Shep? Sure. But he'd damn well tell her first before knocking up some other chick.

You'd expect something different from a developer that tries to shove "progressiveness" down our throats, right?Ryzaki wrote...
I'm sorry but OP LOL
Though seriously nice going with the stereotypical route BW.
I love how the black man is the only LI that cheats. How nice.

At least he's honest about it. Also, I didn't even know "cheating" was a stereotypically black thing to do until I read this thread. Most of the people I've heard about it real life who've cheated have been white.

And yes, you could use that logic for all of the LIs in ME2, but they don't cheat. Jacob does. The fact remains that you don't know any of them THAT well. Other than Tali and Garrus. There are aspects of a persons personality that can't be revealed after a month of working together.
All the ME2 romances are implied as flings. Jacob just happens to get over it more quickly. There's a reason no one says "I love you" in Mass Effect romances.

I'm not familiar enough with slang to know, so does that turn of phrase even qualify when it comes to man-on-man relationships?
...Although the Cortez romance is a case of Shepard moving to comfort Cortez more than anything. He spends half the game grieving, so "no time to grieve" sounds a touch insensitive.

Not until ME3, anyway. It happens in a few of the romances at least in this one. Although I'm not sure whether tearful death scenes necessarily count in this instance.

Booty is booty.
Whether it be man-booty or woman-booty or alien-booty.

He is with her when you see him again. It was six months between game two and game three and a few weeks or months after that when you see Jacob. Then it's more time before you see Jacob again and he tells you that he's going to be a father. It's only been six months between the two games. If there's a kid involved... Well he was never exclusive to start with then.
See, I'd find it a whole lot more believable that Jacob couldn't possibly contact you if you weren't clearly still allowed communication while in lockdown (Kaidan/Ashley was promoted sometime between games and Anderson is surprised that Shepard didn't know and Liara and Miranda say that they wished they had visited), Miranda hadn't managed to also send you several messages and even meet up with you a few times while also in hiding, and Thane hadn't managed to track your ship down after you had fled Earth by emailing all over the place.I don't think Jacob would have done this without officially ending it with Shepard had circumstances allowed him to do so, but for the last six months, Shepard has been in Alliance lockdown and Jacob at some point during that time went into deep hiding--communication wasn't possible and Jacob had no way of knowing whether it would be possible anytime soon.
Given all of this, Jacob clearly COULD have contacted you but he opted to go the 'Maybe if I never see her again I never have to dump her' route.

eh I didn't really care. but Jacob was just boring in ME3
So even if you did go through with the ME3 'romance' with Jacob, it wouldn't have hurt you all that much. But the people who would end up seeing this happen would be people who DID care enough about Jacob to do so. And Bioware decided to do this to them, regardless of how crummy a way it was to treat a romance and a character. And why? There is no descernable reason to do this to a fanbase, small as it may be.

But
That doesnt excuse the dialogue you get when you meet at the hospital. He tells you his wife wants to name her kid after you and them says its a bad idea. and you have no renegade option to knock his teeth off. I believe they forgot he was a romance option (like Thane on his deathbed).
Sure, make him a cheat if you want. Its very rude to his fanbase. At least let us react to it if you go that route.
