That doesnt excuse the dialogue you get when you meet at the hospital. He tells you his wife wants to name her kid after you and them says its a bad idea.

I don't think he mentioned them getting married.

And while it's tacky to bring up and tacky of Dr. Cole to want to name their child after his ex, Jacob said - probably joking - that she wanted to name the baby Shepard. Shepard is not really a first name.

It''s also not something you say to your ex. I mean Jacob has a hard time opening up about anything personal in ME2. Then he's gonna tell that with Shep?

I can understand th fact that he chose stability over Shepard. She's too much craziness and responsabilities for him and he's a down-to-earth man who doesnt want complications. Kodos to him for figuring out he wasnt that into her.

But let him be punchable in that case.

Before he even met her he knew that she was the first human Spectre, saved the Citadel, went on about Reapers when no one wanted to hear it, had died, been brought back, and then after they met they were all on a suicide mission together. There's no way in hell he could have ever thought she represented stability so if that's what he wanted then why start anything? And why say "I love you" thus making it more real than just a 'we're going to die' fling?

Personally, I think its racist that the assumption is that this is ABOUT race. You guys are assuming its about race and you assume this BECAUSE Jacob is black. If Jacob had been white, you would not have been able to say it was about race. Jacob is a human male who cheated. Nowhere in the game does it say "because he is black". YOU guys are the ones saying that.

Meh, I'm still scratching my head about kaiden becoming gay... Totally ruined my relationship with him. I guess I always suspected, what with that haircut and all...

I'm sorry but OP LOL

Though seriously nice going with the stereotypical route BW.

I love how the black man is the only LI that cheats. How nice.

True. Bioware should go for full positive racism and present characters with dark textures only in the best possible way.

I like that Bioware introduced this more realistic storyline, that pursuing love doesn't always work out... But why the hell were there no aggressive options for femshep? I would think after everything she's been through, there needs to be a knee-to-crotch renegade interrupt. And then if you talk to him at the hospital, she's all cheery like nothing is wrong...

We all know that the pursuit of love does not always work out and don't need BW to demonstrate this for us in a game.  It is not much fun roleplaying the ditched lover, especially when appropriate response is seriously lacking, why put a bummer on the game for those players who are the characters biggest fans?   I seriously don't get it.

I think Bioware shafted Jacob because the girls were complaining that Jacob's romance was too boring.

I said so in a previous thread; someone responded to me that then the decision caters to no one. I disagree; I remember back when ME2 was released the fans were screaming about how "creepy" Jacob was.

So I find it a bit ironic that now they're complaining about not being able to romance him, when it was the romance that was bothering them before.

Bioware had Samara to prove that Shep can't have everyone. Not getting a paramour achievement then in the very next game they cheat on you. It ruins his whole romance path from the second game and spits in the face of anyone that romanced him. It's terrible writing from him to have gone to Brynne's Cerberus cell AFTER you quit Cerberus for him to not rejoin the Alliance with you after you're taken in, just like Joker does for the Normandy's overhaul. For Me Jacob was killed in between the games because the guy with Brynne is not the Jacob Taylor I had on my ship.

but different fans like different things, why would you cater to those fans who thought Jacob was creepy? Personally I never created a shepard who romanced Jacob and I did not particularly warm to his character and consequently, for me, Jacob's role in ME3 was fine.  However, BW should not be catering to fans with my outlook when they write Jacob, I couldn't really care less about how he is in my game.  They should be thinking about the best conclusion to his character with jacob fans in mind and as Jacob ditching shepard has zero relevance to any major plot it was, in my opinion, quite a cruel thing to do to Jacob fans.

That's true, you're right, I didn't think about it that way. For the record, I'm not pleased at how they handled the romance either. I was just really shocked that so many people think how they handled it was a bad thing, when so many people didn't like Jacob back in ME2.

In my own case, I happen to be male and thus am happy for Jacob since it brings closure to his desire to be better than Ronald Taylor. But I do have multiple Shepards saved up, including a female that romanced Jacob, and now I'm probably going to have to romance Diana or Samantha with that Shepard.

Big deal, Cortez tries to hook up with you and he had a husband that only died a short while back. No time to grieve.

His husband tells him to move on ("don't make me an anchor") in a final recording. Try playing the game.

Yes BW seem to have catered for the friendship arcs much better for the ME2 characters than their romances.  The game has been ruined for me by the treatment of the Thane romance :( which is why I'm posting on the forums and not replaying... I took a week off work to play too :pinched:

If it makes you feel any better, ma'am, my own Thane romance save won't fare that much better. I have Shepards for every possible romance to test them out (I am currently doing a "Tali romance" playthrough), but as with Jacob, in the Thane save after the hospital romance I'll probably have to romance either Samantha Traynor or Diana Allers with her.

Your fault for picking the human.

Should have hooked up with Garrus.

^^ This.

I'm pretty sure it would've been physically impossible for Garrus to knock up another human female. Also, he's not an arseface.

My Shep never moved on, she was broken and died at the end.  I'd find it really hard to roleplay any of them moving on, it seems to be way too soon, and soooo inappropriate how everyone keeps hitting on her when her partner's not even cold.

his husband also died before horizon in ME2 which was almost a year before you start the romance in ME3

its not like freaking Jaheira from BG2 who sees her husbands mutilated corpse then tries to jump your bones 2 days later

he also only tries to hook up with you if you flirt with him first
