Ok. I haven't been able to play as much as i'd like to lately, so I haven't been able to test this out yet. But i'm wondering: If you were to buy only recruit packs until all of the basic recruit things were maxed out, wouldn't the system have no choice but to start giving you other, veteran/spectre level, things? The last two things in a pack are always a bi-combo of an attachement, a gun, or a character. So I assume it wouldn't just start giving more consumables or something. After playing multiple gold games, at about 70k credits per complete game, I've been buying recruit packs and've maxed out all basic weapons, and am now recieving almost exclusively attachements and characters. Each character only has like 5-6 unlockable cards or whatever, so the theory seems plausable. And the attachements only go to rank V(5). So at 14 recruit packs every 40 minute gold game, you could unlock all of these in approx., 5.5cards*6classes*4characters+(however many attachements, I'll say about 4-5 per gun so)4.5*5types*5upgrades all /14Recruits*2characters-attachementsperpack*40minutespergame/60minutesperhour=, 5 Hours and 48 Minutes of solid gameplay. Then all that would be left would be higher level guns. If this works it would be a huge time saver because there're dozens of guns and they all go to rank X(10). Veteran packs would take four times as long to unlock everything and spectre packs would take fouteen times as long. So ya. I'm going to try this out asap, but if any of you want to put it to the test or post your thoughts on the matter, I would be much obliged. Thanxzorz

I don't think you'd get weapon or mod upgrades anymore, but you would end up getting a lot of human classes.

No, it doesn't give you upgrades for things once you've maxed them out. In the demo I got the krogan soldier, the asari adept, and I think the human infiltrator to the max rank so I had lights and skin tone and what not. And after that I never got anymore upgrades for them. So unless that was just a gigantically unlikely coincidence, among other things, due to the fact that the limited characters in the demo made it more likely to get them, you don't unlock things once they're maxed out.

Yep, no more weapons/mods but the character class unlocks still there.

It does work well for clearing out common draws from the spectre packs though.

I can verify the idea of this PERSONALLY - I set out in multiplayer to use only Recruit Packs through the beginning of my playtime (after experimenting the demo).

I've spent ~ 400k credits in Recruit Packs. I have yet to open a Veteran or Spectre. All my initial weapons and mods are levels X and V respectively (maxed).

Most importantly, the only cards I get in the last slot AT THIS POINT (rare, uncommon, whatever) are human class upgrades.

Now I'm going to move on to the other two packs (99% Veteran, we will see what happens).

Recruit packs can unlock all common (obviously) items and have a chance at uncommon items.... and then if you had all uncommon's unlocked.

Veteran packs can unlock uncommon and higher. So in theory, you could use Recruit packs to unlock all common/uncommon, then be left with rare/super rare items through veteran packs.

But of course, there's that glaring bug where even when you max a character to level 20, you can still earn those damn XP cards |=<

Omgomgomg. Ok. 400k is "only" 80 recruit packs, so 160 characters/guns/attachments. Which is not enough to get all of the basic things. And being level 20 does not matter at all. The character upgrades are mainly designed for aesthetical customization. The xp is just a bonus. So until you get all of the appearance unlocks, colors/camo/lights/skin tone, you will still get character upgrades. And because there are 12 humans, it always seems like you're getting them. In the description for recruits, it does say that its common(default) and a slight chance for uncommon(silver). But I've had friends who have squealed in joy to me in the lobby about unlocking the widow(gold) in a recruit pack and it seems, although I don't have specific examples, like I have got similar high rank unlocks in it as well. So you can unlock gold and N7 things in recruits, its just very very very very very very very unlikely. But As you unlock more of the things, the chance to unlock them raises. Do you see? DO YOU SEE!?

In reference to my above post, I have never seen a Gold in a Recruit Pack through all of them I've opened.

EDIT: All that being said, I'm almost positive it has been comfirmed that you will get character class upgrades forever. Meaning when all your humans are maxed in appearance, you will continue to get them.

However, you will unlock new weapons/upgrades at the CORRESPONDING level of packs you are opening once you have acquired everything else.

You can usually max out a few basic weapons and a few basic mods before you start getting nothing but characters. The character cards are primarily there (once you get your visual unlocks) to keep giving you XP for the people who promote their characters.

I have found it best to maximize the Recruit packs till you get nothing but character cards (and the occasional silver) then start buying Veteran Packs till you start maxing out the mods that come from Silvers then just focus entirely on Spectre packs. This will prevent stupid things like the Mantis or Avenger from showing up in your Spectre packs instead of something from the Veteran or Spectre packs themselves.

Hmmm.. Well if what you guys are saying about the infinite character packs is true, then advancing through the packs until you max each rank would be a sure shot method to follow. Oh and btw when you get something stupid like the mantis in a spectre, it gives you like 5 upgrades for it on that one card. But ya. I plan on testing this out in the next couple days. But I have been getting many human cards lately, although I don't think I've maxed any yet. We shall see in due time

This is really good strategy. I have never thought of this (i.e. blocking crap stuff to appear in better packs by maxing crappy stuff out early). Thanks!

I've been getting character upgrades on my level 20 female human infiltrator. NOW WHAT?!

@Spaceguy5 Ya that's exactly what I was saying. It doesn't matter if you're level 20. You'll still get the cards. It won't stop until you get all the appearance unlocks. I'm pretty sure I just repeated exactly what you bolded though. Maybe you misread what I said brah

But... my character does have full appearance unlocked too (Sorry, I thought I pointed that out already <_<)

I always save for Spectre packs but for some reason the game thinks I need SMG's, Shotguns, and Sniper Rifles when I don't use any of them at all.

I'm not sure how much I spent, but I unlocked everything in the recruit packs except human male soldier customization. Card 4, which normally contains a weapon modification card has been replaced by a armor/weapon/bullet level I equipment cards now.  Card five is almost always still a human character card, rarely a silver.

So now I'm onto veteran packs and I'm unlocking a lot of silver weapon modification in card 4.

I keep getting SMGs and shotguns the most, even though what I reaaaally need are heavy pistols and sniper rifles o.-; I finally got at least one sniper that's really nice though... it's basically just a heavy pistol shaped like a sniper <_< So I'm still waiting on a real sniper rifle. Which the game doesn't seem to want to give me </3

Getting cards for characters you've got to level 20 isn't a bug. The game assumes you're going to promote classes for single players war assets and is giving your recently promoted to level 1 character a boost to get them back into form.

Well that settles it then if people are sure that you can still get character packs after you've maxed out their appearance unlocks. On a side note though: What does sending off character to the galaxy at war do? I haven't had the chance to play single player yet so idk. My galactic readiness is at 100%. But I have noticed that it gradually drops over time. Whats that all about?

It resets the class to level 1, and gives you 10 N7 levels, and 1 more point in your special ops team score. All your characters and customization is still unocked.  I don't know if it has any effect in single player mode.
Edit: sorry, thought you meant promotion.

It'd be nice if they removed that 'feature' <_< Also, if my character is level 20 and unpromoted, any extra XP earned would just go into nothing, right?

@Cazlee Special ops team score? What's that?
