This is the third time that I've made this thread, but maybe I'll get more help here.  I'm trying to figure out the decisions throughout the trilogy that will give you the most war assets.  Currently, I'm focusing on the council decision.

If you save the council, you get the destiny ascension, which the wiki says is worth 90 war assets.  I thought that it was worth less than that, but I deleted my save and can't confirm it.  You will also be able to re-save the salarian councilor, giving you the salarian third fleet which is worth 125 war assets.  Combined, that would mean saving the council nets you 215 war assets.

If you sacrifice the council, your alliance fleets are at full strength, giving you 75 war assets.  An admiral also appears to live and gets promoted, providing you with an additional 25.  Then, when you save the new councilor, you're given an STG task group worth 70 points.  Combined, that would mean that sacrificing the council nets you 170 war assets.

Is this correct?  Has anybody who sacrificed the council received the salarian third fleet?  I've seen people making threads about how the salarian third fleet never showed up, but if I'm right, it would mean that the original council was dead on their saves.  Saving the council, and then saving the councilor, would give you the most war assets.

I'd like this thread to gradually figure out these puzzles, so that those of us who can't play multiplayer may eventually be able to break the 4,000 EMS threshold.

It's definetely possible, people have got extremely close, and identified enough mistakes afterwards to tip them over 4000.

Though as others have said, playing out every choice in a war asset completionist manner, limits your actual role playing.

Some war assets, like Dr Chakwas, come at the expense of the popular choice, which is bringing her along with you.

On a related note, is it possible to get both the first and third Salarian fleets? If so, then the best choice would be to kill Wrex in ME1 (loses 5 because Wrev is 25 and Wrex is 30) and destroy the cure which allows Mordin Solus to live (I think he's worth 25 IIRC). If Wrex lives, then you lose much of your Krogan support and you can't afford that (if you sabotage the cure). It also seems that rewriting the Heretics is better than destroying them but ONLY if you arrange peace and that means both Legion and Tali must survive ME2, Tali's loyalty mission must be done successfully (no exile) AND Shep has to use a paragon/renegade resolve to keep both loyal. Even then it means you must do both optional Rannoch missions and save Admiral Koris.

Rewriting the heretics isn't much of a problem, as it is the paragon choice, and hence the choice of most paragon players.

The salarian fleets is a different story, killing wrex is obviosly not a price worth paying for the sake of war asset points.

Afterall only a completionist player is concerned about having 4000 EMS anyway.

That can't come at the expense of major unwanted story choices, or what is the point.

I had this question as well, so I won't make another thread. It's been a week so hopefully more people know the math. Someone said you lose 75 points saving the council in ME 1, but if you don't you somehow don't get Salarian support later in ME 3 after supporting the Krogans.

This thread is outdated.  Shouldn't have bumped it.  If you do everything right in Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3, savingn the council gets you the most war assets.
