I support this thread 100 billion %. The Shepard lives ending in the stone rubble... maybe it's true and everything following you being zapped didn't actually happen. Anderson beating you there didn't make sense, none of it made sense. Hm...

It made sense. Anderson stated he appeared somewhere else and as you're walking he's  saying the walls are shifting. What doesn't make sense is the soldier, who you  meet on Earth, calls out on the Radio, "They're all dead, gone. Fall back." Or something along those lines and Anderson says, when you reach the citadel, "I came in after you."

I just hope if the DLC continues on this theory that it's a bit remniscent of Mass Effect with Harbinger constantly trying to batter you as you climb the citadel and meet indoctrinated TIM who then gets taken full control over.

Then why does that pop-up say You're a legend for ending the Reaper threat blah blah blah...was Bioware indoctrinated too when typing that in?

There is also the fact that the Guardian is supposed to be an entity above the reapers, the one who controls them. He refers to the Reapers as "us" and "we" many times when he is describing the blue and green endings. He also makes the Red ending seem less favorable, telling you how if you pick that, it'll all end ****ty anyway. But the other two, he makes it sound like there is some hope for the galaxy.
I am in full belief of the indoctrination theory. Maybe I am grasping.. But I need this to be true. Even if it's not, I am going to believe in it. It's the only way I can look at the Mass Effect series again without feeling sick.

I started questioning how real it was when the kid showed up looking like the kid. The game had already dropped clues for us with Legion's quest. When you go into the network you see Legion as his unit, and he tells you that is because he has chosen to look like that because it is familiar to Shepard. Also I know this is nitpicky, but Shepard gets a gun with unlimited ammo when entering the beam. Shepard is familiar with guns, his mind would create a gun for protection, just like it does in Legion's quest.

The way I see it Bioware did one of two things. They either thought this ending out very very well, and have left us on the cliffhanger to stew and think before we get a real ending, or they screwed themselves over by slapping a half assed ending together in a few hours. I find it hard to believe that Bioware would wrap up this baby of theirs on such a ****ty note, no matter the pressure they where under. Better to throw out less important content then an entire ending.

But what do I know? I don't make video games.

And apparently according to several video game blogs, that makes your opinion worthless. -steps off soapbox- Sorry, just read a couple blogs decrying the campaigns that have sprung up against the endings.

Yes in fact the strongest evidence I can think of to support the indoc/halluc theories is simple, and not even in the game: The game is BioWare's creation. I just refuse to think any writer, any developer, would simply crash and burn their game like this. That is why I still have faith that it is one of the most clever marketing ploys from BioWare.

If I'm wrong..well, I've got two $80 discs to use for target practice...I'll find some good in that somewhere.

Wouldn't it be funny if these were truly the intended endings and now BW after reading this theory decided to roll along with it to save face like "Haha gotcha, we planned this all along." It also could explain the silence.

Here's the problem with this whole theory. If in fact this was a clever plot twist in which the end is either a hallucination from a half dead Sheperd or an indoctrination by TIM or the Reapers doesn't matter.

If BioWare actually went so far as to end the game with a fake ending only to later release the REAL ending as DLC the community at large will go ballistic. If that is their intent then they willingly released a game to end a large trilogy without the end.

Imagine the end of Return of the Jedi ended with Luke being possibly killed by the Emperor and then the movie just ending. Now imagine 3 months later Lucas comes out and says "It wasn't the end! Go see the real 10 minute ending this summer for only 19.99!" Not the perfect metaphor but you can see my point.

No matter what Bioware does at this point they've absolutely lost major credibility with even their most ardent fans.

I can say unequivocally that after the crapfest that was DA:2 post playing the magnificent DA:O, and now the crappy endings of ME3 coupled with the money grubbing DLC fests and toys that give you multiplayer characters etc etc .....

I will never be buying a preorder or day one release from Bioware ever again.

Let's not even get into SW:TOR.

I just hope BioWare has a plan and the BEST PR GUY IN THE UNIVERSE.

Yeah, I initially wanted to believe because of how much the endings suck but being realistic I can't stop thinking the same thing you are saying. Like I mentioned, their metacritic score is very negative, I don't doubt a few have even returned their copies in anger, many are telling their friends to not buy it, any casual gamer looking to get it would stay away as soon as he looked into any forum and saw the endless topics about the endings. BW is getting their brand name even more damaged after DA2 and especially because of that video about the Prothean DLC being on the disc being out as well on top of the ending disappointment. I just can't see any PR person agreeing with the idea to do something like this.

i posted this on your video but for those who dont read youtube comments ill add it here too

If anybody purchased the collectors edition i suggest you take a close look at your art book ;) One of the pages about the illusive man says that he was supposed to become a full reaper creature and he was going to be the end boss BUTTTTT it goes on to say "this plan was scrapped since we wanted to give the players the satisfaction of fighting a character they know rather than some random creature." This leads me to believe that we haven't seen the end boss yet!!! Who is it? IDK but i would guess harbinger

I thought you raised an excellent point about the subtlety of indoctrination. The color (red vs blue) and location (right vs left) would suggest that control is the Paragon option, which is what the Reapers would want. But Shepard's instinct shows him what Anderson and TIM (the true Paragon and Renegade) would do. I'd forgive the starchild craziness if this were the case and we got an actual ending.

Ok, I see your theories what happens with senergy then? I think the kid would smile then because that would be making a Reaper world.

Now not to prove his point is 100% correct. Shepard already proved he could be controlled when saw the Illusive Man. After seeing the rubble the way it was I know there was not one part from the Citadel there. And you would die if the Citadel exploded.

Think back to what Casey Hudson said To get the really good ending you will have to work hard if you do not have past saves from ME1 & 2. The first play through you might only get a ending.

This means he knew the only good ending to get is Surviving 5000 plus points (really hard to get with out the character adds from ME1&2) Everyone always choose 1 red interrupt or renegade move. This Cause Anderson to Die. So this states there are endings but it might not be the real ending. Like you have some NPCs that are not there because they died. The game still ended.

Now The Paragon and Renegade choices were backwards. The only thing that made me not want to choose this route was killing Geth and EDI. But again that could be a trick. Because Anderson shoot Renegade spot but he is Paragon due the right thing. The Illusive Man was take control which was a Renegade view but it was blue. Something had to be messing with our mind.

I think the "Indoctrination Theory" is false. For one reason:

If you dont have Internet you wouldnt be able to download the "Final ending"-DLC.

And if its already on the Disc .. which date will unlock the final ending?
And who will tell you that theres a new/real ending available? Especialy if you shelfed it for the ending you got?

Indoctrination.. a dream... or an incredibly out of character series of events riddled with plot holes. I don't know.

It's interesting for sure, and makes for a better end than the one we got.

But it doesn't explain why the others ended up on a lush jungle planet. And for that matter, why did the Reapers all fall over on earth? It's not like Shepard saw this. I would be more inclined to believe this theory, if it was images/video that she witnessed. But instead we got cut scenes away from Shepard, so it doesn't make sense how this is her indoctrination...yet we see things that isn't related to him/her.

If Shepard really was indoctrinated and the entire Citadel thing was a hallucination, that means the plan failed. And the Reapers would wipe out all civilization. So again, how does this explain Mass Relays blowing up, and Normandy being sent to another planet. And for that matter, how did your squad mates get from the beam to the Normandy again?

For me, this theory would only hold up if it 100% focused on Shepard even to the very end (and what do we make of Shepard breathing in the rumble in light of this theory).

All this "indoctrination" conspiracy theories are nothing but desperate wishful thinking. I mean come on how the fact that "kid disappeared the second u shoot that thing" proves this is a dream. Come on.

Please explain how Ashley went from dying behind me in the blast, to getting onto the Normandy with Joker without a scratch on her on another planet that looks pristine?

At this point the indoctrination idea makes more sense and has less plot holes than what is being percieved as the ending.

Please explain to me..how her being indoctrinated means she ended up on a jungle planet, away from her LI. And for that matter, why would various members of the crew end up in the same hallucination? While Shepard was in another....

Wouldn't each individual have their own hallucination if they were indoctrinated?

I think it's just a plot hole. They didn't just start at the end of the game, and they certainly aren't limited to ME3. But trust me, I hope you're right and that it's indoctrination. I would love to be proven wrong.
