So Ive been wondering why every ending had the relays die thereby isolating everyone in the galaxy to their systems and I think I have it. It helps with future forays into this world. Its actually pretty clever tbh (that is not sarcasm). The relays advanced societies that were able to use them thousands of years but destrroyed it will set galactic civilisations back at least hundreds of years. What is the purpose of this

The next iteration in the ME universe can be set hundreds of years in the future say  2500CE but stil have the same tech as 2180s. This serves two purposes

1) Sheps achievements are long history maybe not entirely forgotten but not referenced often. Essentially ME4 can be a clean slate. There is no need to bring new players up to speed

2) It avoids the problem of tech being to advanced (lasers and stuff) that perhaps doesnt translate well combat or storywise. They can keep the same combat dynamics, lore etc etc

Thats my theory and its not a bad idea
