Hi, anybody can answer my question?
On my 2nd play, i want to be a warrior. Dual wield. In what stats I need to go? I would like to have a Strong, and HEALTHy PC :P Is that possible? would i have to sacrifice HP, to do more dmg? What about Dex? will it be  better for me instead of con?

And, I'm planning Alister as a Tank, With high Dex. As you recommend.

Cheers.

With Dual Wielding Warriors, your main priority is Strength and getting to at least 36 Dex. After that you can just pump strength or add more Dex for defense. I'm personally going the Strength pump. :)

THX, but what with con? forget about it? won't I be dead in a sec. without con?

And if I go DW with lots of str and dex, would it be a bad idea to wear Dragon armor, or any massive armor?

And what specializations would you recommend for DW?

My dexterity is 44 and my constitution is 66 with gear and I'm doing perfectly fine on hard difficulty. I can withstand great amount of damage and I never die. Some people prefer to micromanage their whole party in order to get tank through all sorts of CC, both physical and mental, by casting pummel strike, dispel, cone of cold, you name it, I prefer to simply live through it and focus on dealing damage rather than keeping tank CC-free. Both ways work, so it depends entirely on your personal taste and what you want your character to be. I always viewed tanks as indomitable meat walls rather than elusive hard to hit individuals, so I went con.

If you want pure DPS with DW, then you go dagger/dagger. This is so you lower the interval between your attacks as much as possible, since +x damage modifers aren't normalized with attack speed. So the faster you attack, the better, since practically all damage bonuses are +x.

Max DEX with dagger/dagger gives you same offense as max STR dagger/dagger, but much better survivability since it has almost the same defense as a shield DEX tank.

Though if you have a tank, personally I'd go with max STR, 24 DEX (for momentum), and dual Vehisale + Rose of Thorns in order to largely nullify the health drain of Blood Frenzy and the stamina drain of Berserk through Wade's superior dragonscale armor set + Andruil's Blessing + Lifegiver. Slightly less DPS than dagger/dagger, but you can indefinitely keep up Frenzy + Berserk, which counts for something.

EDIT: In any case, every point put into CON is one less point put in your appropriate damage attribute. So yes, if you want CON, you HAVE to sacrifice damage. That's why DEX builds are so optimal, since they offer superior survivability at little to no cost of their offense, assuming you're using DEX hotfix (because really, daggers are the best weapons in game for their superior attack speed, and with the DEX hotfix, you get to put half of DEX points into your offense as well)

And for the record, an end game Alistair with no points put into CON has almost 300 hp, around 350 with lifegiver. More than enough hp to tank hits when they get to him, so I found no need to incrrease that stat.

I like to balance it out. I gotta say though that when you put the armor glyphs and all that + health regen it doesn't matter, at least on hard.

well, i just went to the game load my save game, spend 1! point in DW talents and to my topsider's honor(I Like long swords, I dont have a heart to not use at least one;) ), throw away my shield to alister, and equipped a dagger, a pretty good. And i was surprised that i deafeated gaxxkang with it. With no talents for DW exept the 1st one. And then I encountered some Yellow enemy type. One time I fought with sword and shield. Then i Reloaded and useed, like i said, Topsider's and a dagger. And fighting using DW was better, DPS was good. And It would be better, due to not having any DW talents. So it is decided for me. DW will be my next PC :D

Now i need to think about specializations. Any thoughts? :P

And thanks for answers :) Cheers

In a word? Yes.

I've not tried Nightmare yet, but in Hard you can become virtually untouchable with enough defense.

Dex increases attack, physical resistance, damage with daggers ( or it will as soon as it's fixed ), damage with ranged weapons and defense. No other stat comes close: Str is purely offensive ( and armor doesn't really make a difference at higher levels...) and Con is purely defensive. If you go Str/Con you lose quite a bit in terms of offensive capabilities; Str/Dex or even better pure dex and dual daggers is probably the most balanced approach, granting good offensive capabilities and great defenses.

My first PC was a rogue dalish elf...I ended up with 102 Dex at level 22, 175 defense self buffed...I soled all of the melee bosses ( except for the dragons, grab is a killer ) quite easily.

I'm playing a S&B champion/berserker right now, and I plan to raise his Str to 42 and focus on Dex from there on.

IMO, Str and Con should have some kind of defensive and offensive benefit respectively to balance things out.

Con is just useless, especially if you're a warrior. Since the number of HP you gain from it doesn't depend on your class, it just doesn't make enough of a difference. Besides, once your health pool is depleted, you have to heal somehow, and your con doesn't make any difference on the amount of health you recover...

From what I've read the incoming damage increases greatly on Nightmare... but enemy Attack is not modified at all for Hard/Nightmare modes!
So now I'm playing a Dex Rogue on Nightmare. Only level 12 so far... but already with Glyph of Warding am almost untouchable...

With tanking Alistair, once I have filled out his stats need for his talents, where should points go?
