I thought "Fuuuuuuuuu...! This seriously is the ending!?!" My wife came in as the credits were rolling and said "Oh, you beat your game. What's wrong? You look depressed."

I wanted to punt him, seriously. I never liked that child throughout the game, and to have him as the last person you ever spoke to was insulting.
He gives me an immovable ultimatum and expects me to agree with it.
I really couldn't get my head around what the ending finally came to.
My hands slipped away from the keyboard and mouse, limply and I just sat there blinking.
I felt sick, a common reaction among most of us.

It took me a while to chose a path, and when I did so, I was horrified to find out that I couldn't even change my mind. Shepherd started to Autowalk. I couldn't even steel myself against what I was about to do. It was like someone was saying "Ha! Got you! Now sit back and watch as I f**k things up!"
That was by far the worst part of it. Taking my hands away from the controls and watching Shepherd die without any way to affect the outcome.
Goddammit.

+1 this,

Talk about how your actions mattered: If you actually achieved peace, why can't you at least question his stance that "organics and synthetics can't co-exist"? It's right outside the window, them fighting side by side! I'll even accept a half-hearted response (in past cycles, peace never last). But the glaring lack of conversation (Shep talked so much in the trilogy, and he just talked TIM to death!) was kind of insulting.

I would have even felt better if the kid only had one line: "you're running out of time" I haven't found any explanations (had hopes from the indoctrination theory that this was all on purpose) except they got lazy.

I felt incredibly sad. I had spent so much time over the years playing this amazing series, building relationships with the crew, just to have bioware laugh in my face and say that none of that mattered...

Still in disbelief...

Blank stare, really. I knew that this was it. "This is it, isn't it?" The horrible ending everyone was talking about. So I went for destroy and haven't touched the game since.

I was dumbfounded, didn't really understand what the hell was happening. When the star child first showed up, I thought it was going be a hallucination that was going to offer support, telling Shepard that he could do what was needed to be done.

For some reason I went for the synthesis ending. It was when Liara smiled in the flashback, with Shepard disintegrating just after, that I fell into a depressed daze, and sat gutted at the end of my bed while the credits rolled. Stargazer offered some hope for a millisecond but that hope rapidly died. I then jumped on BSN to see if that was really the ending.

So yeah...

I found my thumb angling the joystick to face the boy. My left index finger compressed the left trigger to raise the hand cannon. I maneuvered the crosshairs to the ghost boy's head and my right index finger slowly wrapped around the right trigger and squeezed it definitively. The pistol erupted but there was no impact and I was forced to make one of the three crappy choices.

A blank stare, couldn't feel anything (and with a series like this, not feeling anything at the end is a problem.) Funny thing is I was informed via spoilers, but to see how it played out. It all just felt wrong, especially with Shepard falling for this thing's explanations hook line and sinker. No Shepard I know, Paragon, Paragade, Renegade or Renegon would buy this thing's bull****. So I shot it several times out of spite, went for destroy. Then came the cinematics and credits, the grandpa scene, then that teeth gritting SHEPURD IS A LEGEND MAKE SURE TO BUY OUR DLC.

Until that dlc screen, all I could think was, that's the best they came up with? Ripping off Deus Ex's endings? Since then it's been disappointment.

Confused mostly.

Then I accidentally found myself in the synthesis ending because I didn't understand how the choosing worked.

Then I just kind of, stared at my screen in disbelief.

Then I quit the game and started posting on here in rage.

Exactly this, actually. Kind of numbed in confusion disbelief of what was going on during/right after the convo

I tried to find a hidden fourth choice. After trying everything including shooting the kid I chose the ending I disliked the least. The reapers died and I became confused...
