I just sat there and stared at the little wanker until the game got annoyed and told me that the Crucible had been destroyed. Then, as I listened to the fatalistic music and the game telling me that I should 'resume' or 'load', I began to hear a message repeated in my head. Went like this:

Starchild: "Hey, man! I hear you meatbags don't want to be slotted by synthetics. So I created an army of synthetics to slot you every 50,000 years. So you won't get slotted by synthetics! Genius, yeah?"

Then I felt sick.

I couldn't believe how castrated the Reapers became in my mind. All the time we were hearing how "unknowable" their motives were. Yet I had just been told by star brat that it made Reapers to kill you before synthetics kill you. It was so idiotic I just sat blank faced, until I got a mission fail saying the crucible had been destroyed.

It was terrible.

Sorry but it was my reaction. While I did end up having issue with aspects of the ending the Starchild wasn't one of them.

at first i didn't really have an issue with the ghost child. i assumed that after choosing destroy that everything would be explained

I kept waiting and hoping for an option to argue against the Catalyst's broken troll logic. I mean, Commander Shepard just got through arguing with TIM just one room ago. He argued against Sovereign. He argued against the reaper on Rannoch. Surely Commander Shepard isn't about to let one stupid star child peddle nonsense like that unchallenged.

When no paragon or renegade option came up, I felt like I'd been slapped. It was a very sour ending to an otherwise great franchise.

I sat there in disbelief as the kid went on to explain about the logic behind the reapers (lol, explain .... right) to which the kid let me lose on three paths. While Shepard hobbled to my first choice it felt like my insides where turning inside out. When the credits started to role my head was still trying to make sense of it all. I reloaded the mission thinking I chose wrong only to see the same thing with a few changes like color. Finally I tried to shoot the kid yelled at him "DON'T ****** IN MY EAR AND TELL ME IT'S RAINING!" and proceeded to go online for help. My stomach dropped as I soon realized that was the ending and then the blood rage kicked in. I've been here ever since.

Lol, I was baffled. I started to explore (first going backwards) later walked towards the green beam. Suddenly got a "critical mission failure, the citadel has been destroyed". So I resumed, went for the green beam right away and got confused. I still keep checking this forum daily to find bioware telling us "Gotcha! Go here and download the real ending we promised you!".

Same. I tried to shoot him, then I tried to run back and see if I could throw myself down the elevator shaft to die and avoid having to select one of the 3 bad endings.  (No joke.)
