And ruthless overemphasis of vast minorities isn't idiocy? Let's give these people all this recognition and "assistance" simply for not being like everyone else. That'll take our nation forward.

In Dragon Age 2 I accidentally talked myself right into a "love" scene with Anders; I was just being nice to get his stupid friendship bonus stats. So, this Bioware game my Shepard is going to be a relentless flirt with women and a complete bastard to every man he meets. We'll see how it goes.

I think enforcing any belief system on your customers is just generally a bad idea. Even if you are 100% right, you should be giving the customers a chance to adjust at their own pace, not weight it on them as if it's your job to make them understand otherwise - video games are supposed to be entertainment, not education mediums.

It is kind of funny how it backflipped on Bioware, this guy doesn't even have a problem with gays but Bioware is telling him to be gay.

Blizzard are always tempted by fans to do stuff like this, and they know better than to just throw it in there without seriously thinking about it the right way.

How about before forcing heterosexuality on gay people! There were 0 gay male romance options, and what 7 straight romances for ManShep? Are you KIDDING me? This is about letting gay people have options, not teaching a ****ing civil rights lesson.

Please be mindful that Bioware is still trying to cater to heteros oversensitivity and general weakness by making everyone "on the surface" straight - their first foray into being open about a character is Cortez, they're testing new waters, good for them.

And he's still "just the pilot" - couldn't waste resources making a teammate gay, instead we needed a **** talking Prothean.

And it's interesting to note the reaction to Mr. Cortez on these forums.

Let me simplify for you because you obviously are very emotional.

There is no problem implementing these sorts of things if it is done the right way, and not just rushed in.

It's like the thread creator says, he doesn't have a problem with homosexuals, but the fact he is forced to play as a homosexual bothers him, the game experience was ruined.

It would be different if you had already indicated somehow that you were interested in homosexual relationships. I'm glad I kept Ashley instead. She's lookin' pretty sexy this time around.

I think for some reason Bioware felt pressured to be exceptionally politicaly correct this time around and sometimes it comes off as creepy or forced.

By the way, being compassionate, intelligent, and accepting of minorities is what takes civilizations forward from barbarianism to enlightenment. So you're correct there.

But no they decided to put in a sensitive topic, to please 5% of people when franky, the world isn't ready for it yet. Let alone is any game designer intelligent enough to put such feature in to please everybody.

Yes, this is exactly my opinion. Except i think that instead of using the time to write-in the gayness, they could use it to write a better story. And give femshep more attention. But just again, political correctness takes priority over game quality, and this is what i AM having a problem with.

Obviously I have no issue with the simple presence of homosexuality in the game. For example, when Cortez first mentioned that he had a husband I thought it was great Bioware was bringing that dimension into the game without making it weird, out-of-place, or uncomfortable.

But if Kaidan all of a sudden starts hitting on you just because you are playing as maleshep, that is just kinda weird, considering the way Kaidan behaved in previous games. It would seem forced and it would definitely creep me out.

I'm not the one spewing bigotry and hatred,  I'm the one fighting against it.  Both sides are not always equal and don't deserve equal treatment.  If you are a bigot then no, your side of an issue does NOT deserve the same level of respect as others do.

i still dont get why people have an issue with gayness and all, never understood that, mind you 99% of the time, people spewing the hatred worried your gonna sneak up on them and have sex with, are people you wouldnt shag int he first place. dear oh lord

Does the fact that it is in the game for the gay community bother you that much ?
Why should they not be allowed to have a romance that reflects their sexual preference ?
