Lol oh dear. Sometimes i think those ones who are scared the game will turn them gay need to start looking at themselves in the mirror a little. Just like in real life you have a choice. You don't have to be gay if a guy hits on you. Just say "I prefer women" and this goes for women who are hit on by another woman. "Not interested" end of. Works the same in games.

Amusing how gay people never complain that they are being "forced" into straight romances.

Maybe if you read the topic you'd know that isn't at all what people are complaining about.

Kaidan = Anders

Plays the straight guy, then suddenly blindsides your male hero with gayness... cause Bioware had to meet some quota :) (or to avoid the "latins=gays" bit in ME3... that still seems 100% true, in ME3 that is)

Cortez is well written though...

No one made me change from my Liara though.

Whoh buddy, you don't think that it's odd that the only 2 humans in your very small elite squad of the UNIVERSES best warriors happens to be gay? It's not realistic.

And the Alien races and killer machines that want to destroy the Galaxy are just SO realistic. XD

I did read it. "WHY ARE THERE GAYS IN MY GAME? WHY ARE YOU FORCING ME TO BE GAY BIOWARE!!!" That pretty much covers the OP

Other than Anders I've never gotten hit on by a male when playing a male character in a Bioware game unless I made the first move. On the other hand when playing a female I've been hit on by both Isabela and Diana Allers without making any sort of pass at them, as well as Kaidan telling me that there was a rumor going around that me and Liara were getting it on. (we weren't btw) Also, to get Samara's loyalty I had to hit on a woman and make her believe I wanted to boink her.

How so?

Homosexuals make up less than 10% of the population, yet the frequency is far higher than that in ME3 and DA2. The romances themselves are fanfic-y, and romantic options come out of the blue when all you are being is friendly. It's like if you aren't a dick to someone, you WILL be hit on.

Bioware has some sort of weird fetish for homosexual couples now. Like Mass Effect has become some prepubescent girl's yaoi fanfiction where anyone and everyone is in the closet and any sort of friendly interaction between two gay people IMMEDIATELY turns to a romantic tone.

At least they've put gay people/choices into the game, i'm not gay myself but i'm happy that the options are there for people who wish to use them. Not many games do.

Well i don't know if you can count going undercover to manipulate somebody with sexual attraction lol.

As for the rest it happens and sometimes it'll happen in real life too. You just make it clear you are not interested. Anders come on might be intimidating something along the lines of "Yeah it sucks my boyfriend is dead....Btw have i told you how much i like your man meat?" but you still have trhe option to tell him no. Same with possible female romances. Diana Allers is a romance option? I was not aware of that. Might do that one for a giggle at the wooden acting her voice actress does.

Haha, if you think Bioware is bad you probably shouldn't watch Torchwood or the parts of New Who with Captain Jack in it.

So you mean:

racist>bisexual

I wish I had the heart to be at the centre of debates concerning homosexuality (Spent the good part of my internet initiation arguing with Rapture Ready members on religion, but I digress...). But the essential argument I would use is as follows:

The Klan and other racists actually had a point (I'm loathe to use this word, but I can't think of any other term I could substitute), in that they'd be forced to integrate with people of different skin colours and ethnicities - OH THE TERROR. Its a bad point, but still a point.

And then I remember some conservative ads in the states saying, "Gay marriage will be forced on me!" - Just how are you being forced? You're still free to marry someone of the opposite sex if you like them and are attracted to them. It's not like Gay Hitler is holding a gun to your head, complete with lederhosen, forcing you to copulate with THE GAYS.

When the Klan has better points than you do, you just know you're morally and intellectually bankrupt.

Unlike the War on Drugs, saying no in this instance actually works. Unless the guy is named Ivan and has a silhouette that you couldn't knock down with a sledgehammer, AND you're in a prison shower, and you dropped the soap.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying, it didn't really bother me as female characters because I could just turn them down, but the frequency seems to be far higher when playing as a female for other females to hit on you then males hitting on you when playing as a male.

Considering it's a whimsical sci-fi fantasy story i think realism already went out the window.

A differing degree of misrepresentation is still misrepresentation.

There has to be a way where I don't feel sexually herassed in the workplace. Options are great, that's what makes these games so awesome, but cmon... cmon... The entire human civilization doesn't boink both ways. I don't see why somone just won't be gay for you. if you're a gay Sheapard some people shouldn't want to hump you at every good deed. Not everyone is gay. Not everyone is straight... Most people are.

Also, keep in mind this is the future so there are probably way less social stigmas regarding sexuality, so more people will be openminded or out of the closet. As a gay guy myself, I've known my share of guys that everyone else assumed were straight but have been with guys before. I'm sure you know many people, some you may even know very well who are interested in the same gender and you would never and will never know.

Mass Effect's universe is ours plus several hundred years. In 40,000 years up to now human sexuality has remained constant. I see no reason for changing that other than to fulfill some odd personal desire to shove so many homosexuals into a setting.

This isn't an issue with the gay romances... In the first Mass Effect just being nice to Ashley would lead you to romance her if you weren't careful, Mass Effect 2 has a lot of flirting going on before you get the choice to romance someone or not. That friendly/paragon interactions heavily lean towards romance is a valid complain but it's not gender or orientation specific.

The OP has a problem with gay sex period end of story. Some people do some don't , but saying BioWare is somehow forcing you to play a gay character is just completly absurd wrong and reactionary. Gay people are here to stay like it or not so i would resolve myself to put my efforts into something that's actually properous OP because this isn't something you can change. BioWare is only giving people a choice the freedom to play the game there way and i support it 100%.

There needs to be some sort of link back to reality. if there wasn't we would all be playing the Pong racing ultimate fighting shooting dance zumba football game. You're argument is invalid just as much as you claim mine is.

Well next time Cortez compliments the eyecandy don't say "Hey I'm eye candy too..."

The same goes with Kaidan. I sensed he was going to be a bisexual relationship so I was careful not to be too nice. It really makes you appreciate the DA2 icons ;-)

That's not it lolz, it was at the memorial. He started sobbing, paragon interrupt came in, i thought it was a simple pat on the back, but Shepard leaned dangerously closer = ALT-F4.

Simple.

So, who the **** are the straight human people on board? Cortez is gay, Traynor is lesbian, Kaidan bisexual, Ashley straight, Joker is into AI's, Vega? I think that he's gay/bisexual too, some comments on Cortez were a little awkward.

Lol it's a game. It's not a crystal ball looking into our future.

And any case the last 40,000 years were in the dark ages for the most part people were a bunch of God fearing loons scared of anything different. It's still the case in some parts of the world but changes over time. In the far future of Mass Effect with a united human world who knows what attitudes could change. Maybe in this future they allow gay people to be in the military and are less small minded about being hit on by gay people or the general existance of gay people working under the same roof as them.

But that's really moot since Mass Effect is fiction so the writers are free to make up any point. If in this universe they want to say they legalised relationships with Goldfish they can do. I'm sure the Krogan would be happy about that..

What? Since when does a fictional story have to have any sort of reality?
