Exactly. Straight guys accept lesbian porn or romances but diss the man on man romances. Talk about a bunch of hypocrites. The world is changing, wether they like it or not. Adaptation is the keyword.
Actually lesbian "stuff" doesn't really do anything for me... -.-
It was just an exemple, sweetie.

Of those there is one gay man, one bisexual man and one lesbian.
Sure is disproportionately gay in here.

Incidentally, a lot of the gay relationships DO seem like yaoi fanfiction.

I'm sorry but you must be a contender for darwin awards. You only get the kiss with Cortez after you've told him you like men, and you like him! And obvious choices are obvious and you have 3 chances to back out.
Oh god LMAO

I wouldn't bother trying to talk sense into these people.
This thread is merely an example of heteronormative self-entitlement, and there is not a thing you can do or say to break them of their idiocy when it comes to this issue because of aforementioned self-entitlement.
Sadly.
I only read this thread because I vainly hoped that it was going to be constructive; a foolish hope I admit.

Complaining about the gay romances when the straight ones are the exact same is just hypocritical though. At least threat it as a learning experience, the discomfort you felt when Kaiden hit on you is pretty minor compared to what real life gay people go though every day.

Might want to recheck that. Whilst alot of greek nation states did practice a sexualized version of the Agoge, the only contemporary source(s) denies this was the case for Spartans. In any case the erotic relationship of intermale relations were a cultural thing that was rather prevalent in that part of the world in its time. Expecting a military unit not to reflect the culture inwhich it is rooted, seems a bit.... strange. And whilst Sparta was greek, it was not a typical greek city state. Male relations would not inconcieveably be regarded as "wastefull" in a nation where high premium was placed on getting ablebodied (male) citizens.
I kind of did, you know.
I take you are referencing Aristotle who claim that the Spartan did not practice homosexuality and that was why the Spartan women had more power that every where else in Greece.
Plutarch and Xenophon do deny without doubt an institutionalised pederasty in Sparta (I.e. and older man having sex with and adolescent). This is not the same thing as homosexuality between consenting adults,.
The same Plutarch that slams homer’s Nestor for arranging his troops by tribe and not by making lovers fighting close to his lover.
Or it is not only the most warlike people who are the susceptible to this kind of love but the greatest of heroes of old as well.
The same Xenophon that complains about making homosexual relationship the sole basis of the formation as some cities does, say that the Spartan loved ones are such model of perfection that even when in camps with stranger the Spartans are ashamed to abandon their lovers.
According to the same Xenophon in fact homosexuality needs to be based on love and not on lust to be effective in battle.
Plato mentions that a warrior would rather suffer much death than seeing his beloved in peril.
In any case the scared band was Thebes’s elite troops and I mean Thebes the Greek city, not the Egyptian necropolis. When lead by Epaminondas (indisputably gay himself) mullerer the Spartan at Leuctra, was composed exclusively of lovers and so where they refused to surrender to Philippe II of Macedonia.
Now we could argue when you are considered and adult in ancient Greece and the nature of the sexual intercourse. The last one being a loaded subject both with the actual meaning of the greek words at the time and the context in which homosexuality was considered at the time modern researchers published their book.
But clearly love for another man was a very military macho thing to do.
Phil

In a way it makes sense, considering there were already female bisexual characters (I know, Asari, but let's stop kidding ourselves here), so its not unexpected there by a male counterpart.
And personally I think it was rather well handled, including the Paragon dialogue options.
And the same goes with Cortez, a serious and mature homosexual character who is dealing with his own grief. It is definitely a breath of fresh air to see such a character included in a video game, as well as the "enlightened" way in which the dialogue does not shy around the issue or somehow make the homosexual character look unusual (no surprise from Shepard when Cortez says his husband is dead, only an expression of sympathy). That's good writing, and I'd say even bold writing. It's about time.
And really, people need to get a better understanding of Paragon conversation options. Paragon options are "good", "diplomatic", and "sensitive" (which it is varies with context). If you're having a heartfelt conversation with someone and pick a Paragon option, expect dialogue that is sensitive and shows empathy, and the same goes of interrupts.
That, however, does NOT mean it is a flirting option. Men don't have to be made of stoic granite in order to assert their heterosexuality, and neither does showing some sensitivity towards other men constitutes signs of homosexuality (at least in the more enlightened cultures).
Cortez' paragon interrupt is a perfect example: you can certainly wish to RP a stoic Shepard who supports Cortez' grief by simply being there, or you can RP a Shepard who make a physical show of support, but neither options have a bearing on your Shepards sexuality. THAT determination comes later on, and I believe is quite clear.
I for one appreciate Mass Effect 3 for actually having the depth to include all these RP options, and for the splendid writing that makes these options actually believable.
Thank you.
