Moral to the story, kill Kaiden on Virmire, Ash is 9001x better and is the "correct choice" see trailer. He was rewritten based on mass QQ by homosexual individuals on Bioware boards, had they chose to make James Vega (not sure of his backstory) or some other new male character homosexual, as was done with the pilot, it would have been better, but we all know the "people of the romance boards" wouldn't approve of that :/

And leave the damn pilot to rot in the shuttle bay, he doesn't contribute anything except whine lol. But his role is valid within the game, new character, not a rewrite, just stating he can be avoided.

Also @ moondoggie, the whole reason this was implemented was because of homosexual QQ about straight romances on the romance boards and in other places, so before you go criticizing the other side, at least know what you are talking about.

Its called coming out of the ****ing closet, people do that sometimes. Also no one is complaining about Jessica Chobot trying to hook up with you every god damn second, but the second Kaidan makes a pass at you you curl up in a ball and start to whine on BSN. Get over it, its not even ****ing forced on you, you literally have to be incompetent to ninjamance with either of them. 

Also: Take it as a compliment! Someone on this earth actually finds your sorry ass attractive (Even if its virtual. You have to start somewhere).

Turn might be the wrong word in this case, but that is what I was talking about, There was a lot leftover in his mannerisms in ME1 and his conversation in ME2 that there was no surprise that he was hitting on Shep in 3. In the context of the world of ME, I think it madde a lot of sense that he could have waited until he worked up the courage to do it. I guess I would equate it to a bisexual man in a rural area, that only dates women out of fear of something like this post happening.

Yet its called a double standard, civilized society has to tolerate, while the minority/"victims" gets to say/do as they please. This isn't exclusive to this subject in the slightest, I've learned just to ignore or laugh it off though, my all time favorite was a video on youtube where they were doing a segment on cultural diversity or African Americans and addressing issues facing them, and one of the the speakers literally said the solution was to "kill all while people" and went on a rant, its on youtube if you want a laugh. The other people in the room were like W-T-F?

Dude. Don't lump me/every other straight person in with the OP. You have a valid point, but that's no reason to hate "straight people" in general. That's just as bad as straight people hating homosexuals.

I honestly wonder who she had to perform sexual acts on to get into the game, really she was a useless addition which could have been substituted by any competent voice actor in the role, but some sick individuals have some sort of fetish for her (see IGN boards).

Well, I don't have anything against anyone being gay, but I don't like retcon. And in Kaidan's case I felt like it was a retcon. I know that the previous games didn't stabilish with total certainty that he was straight, but I assumed so. But I know this is subjective, just my opinion, not based in concrete evidence, so I won't complain. At least almost everyone is happy now.

So let's count the two Bisexual characters as gay for whatever reason and do a quick calculation here

4 Gay characters, 8 Straight characters, however Liara isn't really gay, and Kai is only a gay option for ME3 to I'll put those two as 1/2 gay so 3/9 or 1/3 or roughly 33% of the Romanceable characters are gay.

But the Original Poster said 90% of the population!

Normandy SR-1 Had a crew of 50 and SR-2 has more, but I can't find the number so we'll go with SR-1. 4 Possible gay characters out of 50! So 4/50 or .08 or 8% of the Normandy's crew are gay. Today the rough estimate of OPENLY GAY people in the U.S. is roughly between 1% and 10% so 8% would be a perfectly reasonable number of gay/bisexual characters on a ship the size of the Normandy SR-1(Note SR-2 is measurably larger than SR-1 so the crew is going to be even bigger so this number will drop below even 8% of the crew.). So your estimate of 90% was off by 82%.
