Just an observation: you ever notice how the words "gay", "lesbian", and "bisexual" are never actually used in the game? Could it be that 22nd century humanity has done away with these sorts of false societal constructs? I mean, it's like how no one is referred to in terms of "ethnicity" either; the closet we get is "born in" or "from". Agree with it or not, the cultural impact of joining a galactic community in which there are all sorts of wacky sexual stuff going around (remember, Asari only have one gender!) must have been immense for the human race.

I think Kelly Chambers best summed up the new human approach to romance: love whoever you want because of their character, regardless of whether they have girl parts or guy parts, tentacles or talons. It makes sense given the context of a wide-open galaxy.

dude.. don't be a bot and click paragon\\renegade options.. READ.. THINK.. Choose.

I was full paragon and yet I knew when a conversation led to a romantic option.. damn even the kelly replacement tried to rape my shap any way just think before you choose a dialog option and decide what you want to do.

Some of the renegade options are built toward romantic decisions as well it's all about timing and not auto-clicking color...

How does two male NPCs, in a cast of many, willing to start a relationship with male Shepard become "everyone is gay", "gay is being is being forced on us" and "the writers must be gay or part of the gay agenda"?

Lesbian is also gay.

It's also not what they are whining about. Gal on gal = Haaaaaaawt. But OMGZ, a guy is attracted to male Shep? SCANDALOUS!:pinched:

I AM WHINNING ABOUT FEMSHEP BEING HIT ON BY TRAYNOR. WTF BIOWARE.

It's annoying really.

That said, I agree that the way it's handled in game is kinda crass (Kaidan comes to mind). Like a lot of folks on here have said, just because I'm nice to you doesn't mean I want that man meat.

Isn't it hypocritical to make generalising statements over FaWa being general in his dislike over heterosexuals?

No :P

Whoever said "homophobes" such as I had a general dislike of homosexuals? Other than Fawa of course.

 Sorry, that's just Kelly's excuse for her scale-itching trampdom. Nice try though.

Its called coming out of the ****ing closet, people do that sometimes. Also no one is complaining about Jessica Chobot trying to hook up with you every god damn second, but the second Kaidan makes a pass at you you curl up in a ball and start to whine on BSN. Get over it, its not even ****ing forced on you, you literally have to be incompetent to ninjamance with either of them.

Also: Take it as a compliment! Someone on this earth actually finds your sorry ass attractive (Even if its virtual. You have to start somewhere).

No one complaining about Chobot? Where have you been? I haven't read a single post saying that they like chobot in the game. Nobody likes Chobot in the game.

That's for reasons other than trying to hit on you though, tbf.

Also just to shut you down before I leave, he said this

"This is why I hate straight people."

And I said I made a generalization, I didn't say I didn't say hate speech, and if you need evidence of this, just look at the BSN, or even real life. Minorities/formerly oppressed people tend to make loud statements, or continually cite the same rhetoric which instigates this behavior, this is how a generalization turns into a stereotype. If you need evidence of this, I can cite certain things like feminist movement, Quebec's separatist movement, Black history month, and Pride Parades etc. I could give specific examples but i don't have all day and frankly I don't care enough about the topic to reply more lol.

Or you could try approaching the issue dispassionately and with logic. I'm not talking about 21st century Earth, I'm talking about a future Earth where all our assumptions about romance are thrown out the window because there's a race of monogendered tentacle heads out there, among many, many other things.

Women by and large aren't attracted to male/male relationships. Not like men are attracted to female/female.

Source? I'd be interested in reading the sociological study where you picked up this info, since it doesn't reflect what I've seen and heard in life at all.

Yet its called a double standard, civilized society has to tolerate, while the minority/"victims" gets to say/do as they please. This isn't exclusive to this subject in the slightest, I've learned just to ignore or laugh it off though

Oh, all those poor straight white males, having to bear the burden of tolerating others. I weep for their plight!

The game takes place in the future. Clearly the human race has grown to accept homosexuals by that time. Unlike the OP here....

Logic? Alright.

Romance is first and foremost a means to propagate one's own race. The pleasure is just something developed to entice you to do so.  Anything else is.. unproductive in the grand scheme of things.

How's that for logic?

And personally I think it was rather well handled, including the Paragon dialogue options.

And the same goes with Cortez, a serious and mature homosexual character who is dealing with his own grief. It is definitely a breath of fresh air to see such a character included in a video game, as well as the "enlightened" way in which the dialogue does not shy around the issue or somehow make the homosexual character look unusual (no surprise from Shepard when Cortez says his husband is dead, only an expression of sympathy). That's good writing, and I'd say even bold writing. It's about time.

Completely agree with this. In fact, your entire post is excellent.

I agree that the status of a minority is abused, but to say tha each and every member of a minoritymdoes that is as irrational as saying "I hate heterosexual people."

I personally like the way BW did S/S, instead of it being treated like the Taboo it is today in many regards, its treated as if its nothing unusual, and tbh, being Gay, it's how i would like things to be in real life, its done respectfully and quite accuratley, contrary to popular Social opinion, we are not all ****s, quite alot of us are no different from your average joe, and BW has done it to reflect this, its one of the few companies that "get" us, and for that im very greatful, not being painted with the young self entitled lot that seem to make even more noise about being it all.

Alanp9, What I read in Drunk_canadian's post was that there is a double standard that shouldn't be there of minority people being able to say things about the majority that if the majority said about the minority would e considered hate speech. If that is what is meant then I agree. Hate speech is hate speech regardless of who says it.

Seriously?  Decades of slavery and oppresion and the most they get out of it is a month named after their skin color (ironically enough the shortest month of the year too lol)?  And this is a reason to complain?

...Really?

"Homosexual" behavior in the animal kingdom, more natural than you think, blah blah blah blah.

Look, I'm not here to indict your views. You're entitled to them, I'm entitled to mine, hooray. Nor do I want to have an internet confrontation in which we both whip out our ePeens and measure to see whose is bigger. I'm just saying that within the context of a FICTIONAL UNIVERSE in which humans aren't the only sapient creatures, it makes sense that a huge paradigmatic shift COULD occur with regard to things like the purpose of romance.

Heteroe's in Crisis is the defining image of our modern age evidently.

As for the hetero in crisis, you should hear the latest from the Catholic church here in the UK, "Leading the fight against S/S Marriage" as their moral Duty, The irony it seems, is lost on them.
