I'd like an informed discussion about the different types of ammo. Which types of layers do each apply to and what are their percentages? Obviously armor piercing only applies to armor. The other two are hazy to me. I think there is some overlap in usefulness for these two. It's possible they're situational based on enemy type. I'm primarily playing against Geth at the moment so I suppose all 3 would have at least some use.

Disruptor ammo is good against shields and synthetics.
AP ammo for armor and health
Warp ammo is a good general purpose ammo but mainly it's for use against barriers and enemies affected by a biotic power.

Not sure what the bonuses are in ME3 though. I could tell you if it were ME2.

you can't normally one shot a protected (shields/barriers, take a centurion or phantom, for example) enemy. warp and disruptor remove this limitation slightly, depending on the level

Did some testing with Armor Piercing, it didn't seem effective, and Concussive Shot doesn't seem to get the bonus from it with the appropriate tier 6 ability.

I'll stick with Disruptor.

AP round is useful to penetrate multiple enemies or enemies behind cover.

What should I do to get many more Disruptor Rounds? Spam-buy Recruitment packs?

I am N7 rank 130 and have seen only 2 "Disruptor Rounds III" drop. And only 1-2 of any other "Rounds" item as well.

Update: Found
http://www.xbox360ac...ad.php?t=360967
Recruit Packs: Ammo Rounds I
Veteran: Ammo Rounds II
Spectre: Ammo Rounds III

Not sure what drop rate is like but it is what it is.

So related question...   How important is Disruptor I vs III if you are setting off tech bursts with overload?

the lvl number after the ammo is affect by what pack it comes from, lvl 1s are in recruit packs, lvl 2s are in vet packs, and lvl 3s are in spectres. and actually maintaining a stockpile of any sort of ammos is difficult with the current store system

I have a felling that Warp ammo is doing nothing(just like Ultra Light Materials). Used myself on Black Widow and Mantis X numerous times and I could not see any change, not even damage increase.

Mass Effect 2 Warp ammo started enemies in "pain animation". They should bring this back.

From experience on gold, energy drain followed by 1 widow torso shot with a warp round takes down a phantom.  energy drain followed by 1 widow torso shot with an AP or Disrupter round does not.

Armor - Power amp III
Ammo - Rank III of each
Weapon - Sniper rifle rail III

Widow X
Extended Barrel V
Thermal Clip V

Cloak - damage/ recharge/ bonus power
Energy Drain - damage/ drain/ damage
Salarian Operative - damage and capacity/ power damage/ sniper rifle weight
Fitness - durability/ recharge speed/ fitness expert

I take warp ammo over the other two in a heartbeat.

Ammo types are extremely useful for setting up BE's. Disrupter plus overload/ED = mass tech burst =D

Disruptor Ammo works great on teams with Overload/Drain classes. Tech Bursts abound

Warp Ammo works great on teams with any biotic classes. Helps sey up Biotic Explosions.

Armor-Piercing Ammo is less useful on higher difficulties, imo. It's good against bosses, but chances are you won't be taking them on with weapons unless it's already a high-damage weapon.

Incendiary Ammo also less useful than I remember. It's good for nailing shieled and organic enemies, to keep their shields and health from regenerating quickly. Despite my predisposition against it, the ammo works well on Geth Hunters in Gold, as their cloaking shield regens ridiculously fast.

Cryo Ammo, while not providing additional damage or combos, is not completely useless. If you fail to kill a target with the first shot or two, it will likely go all ice-statue and become a sitting duck for your team. Even Primes seem to get slowed down, which is nice. (And shatter-sploding enemies has a satisfying feel to it.)

Of the ammos, the first two [Warp] and [Disruptor] are my most favored on Gold. Everything else is just filler when I don't have a team that can take advantage of combos. Keep in mind that if you're sniping with Disruptor or Incendiary, the enemy WILL hobble over, arch back, and wiggle in pain after the first shot, making a follow-up headshot more difficult to predict.
