Had Mass Effect been a 70s horror flick, Jacob would have died first.

seems legit
I'd discuss more, but i have some calibrations to take care of

I didn't really care for Jacob but that may have been "my problem" instead of a problem with Jacob.
YMMV.

I like Vega. I think the dynamic he has with femshep is kind of cool. Same with Jacob in ME2, the brohug him and Shep shared was one of my favourite crew dialogues.
On the other hand, I never talked to Wrex at all in ME1 and didn't see the point of him as a character until ME2 so I guess everyone has different tastes.
Yeah. Wrex had no reason to follow Shepard in the first Mass Effect, but people overlook that fact because he's "badass," or whatever.

but i dont like the soldier class squad mates they dont fit my play style so him and James got benched
as did just about every one else again i ended up with mostly Garrus and Tali for the whole game with Lirara and Javik once in a wile
oh and take Javik or Garrus with you when you do the temple mission both are epic trolls to Lirara lol

Before he entered the matron stage or whatever and decided to become king of tuchanka so he could get laid, Wrex was basically a free agent who had just completed a contract, which left him with nowhere in particular he needed to go in a hurry. I can see him tagging along for the ride, just because why not.
Note that I didn't really use him in my playthroughs, so I can't really speak for his supposed awesomeness. I had enough Biotics to go around already.

Ask the OP what he is talking about. He introduced it for some nonsensical reason....

James' dialogues with ohter caraters are well wirtten imho. I had him really often on my squad.
It is possible that they know each other for all the time that Shep is on earth and that is, when I got it right half a year. And he possibly adored him/her for what Shep did a few years ago. and why he is staying? You get a clue of it if you talk to him on your first visit on the Citadel in front of a window in the embassy.
Jacob wasn't as nice, but he was okay. I didn't take him along if I had not to, but I had no problem with him. He's an cerberus "agent" an when TIM sais he has to be on the Normandy, then he's there. Simply not Shep's decision. His duty? Taking care of the armory.. someone has to do it.

Same with with Jacob, really. He's just sort of generic and predictable. I suppose Garrus is too, but I like those types of characters, which I why I'd always have Garrus with me, and swap around the spare team member depending on how appropriate I think they'd be to the mission at hand.
So, in my opinion, if we didn't have Garrus, I think these characters would be more popular, but since we do have Garrus, and Garrus is so likable, we get this.

I actually appreciated both characters. Normal people in a sea of crazy. Between Drell assassins and lesbian asari and murderous Salarian doctors, tank-bred Krogan and Krogan warlords, crazed experimental biotics with more tattoos than they have room for and genetically engineered cheerleaders, it's nice to have down to earth people who are just people.
Jacob and James are bros as far as I'm concerned.
strongly agree, they are the closest thing to regular guys like you and me in the ME games, most of us can probably name guys we know in real life that are just like those two, aside from the fact that they shoot people for a living
