 Since we all knew for a long time we cannot destroy them, they are simply too strong and too many. The only option i saw was to trick them. Since they are machines there would be a way to make them think the current cycle is finished. They finished their work and would go back to ... well where they usually hang out for 50k years.

Like boading Harbinger who after playing ME2 seemed to be their ruler/leader. Placing a signal or something.
Now the galactic civilisation would have another 50k years to advance and be ready for them.

But this is another story......

Oh and the main game should be around getting the galaxy to work together and find a way how to board him and not get indoctrinated or what its called sorry
Actually that would make sense to me.
But the current ending does not make sense to me, no way. NOOOO WAY!!!!
