I know, silly discussion to make, but the bars in Mass Effect 1 and 2 were epic and full of atmosphere and things to do, like sit and watch the action.  But comparing Afterlife to Purgatory is like comparing a Las Vegas stripclub to an Alabama stripclub in terms of differences.... I liked the feel of Afterlife, Purgatory was just too dark, and almost feel it was made that way because they just ran out of time or something and had thoughts of expanding the club to be bigger.  Mass Effect 1 was still better for the simple fact you could get a dance, never seen that before in a game up to that point, it was unique in my opinion, from the point of view of someone not witnessing similar events from other games Im sure others here have

Agreed, but it was pretty cool looking. Just wanted more interaction.

Dude, the stripclubs in Las vegas aren't that bad either, try them before you bash them?

Are you an idiot? Did you not understand what I was saying? Read the analogy again, but this time without an attitude

If you misunderstand what is representing what in that analogy, you need more schooling

@Chris That was the most disappointing thing..... didn't have the staple strip dance you can sit and watch the first two had

I haven't played the game yet but I'm disappointed to hear this. I don't know if it's that silly; the little things in a game can make a huge difference. I'll obviously have to wait until I play of course but if I can't get asari butt wiggle dancing I'mma be massively disappointed.

UNLESS I can get my girlfriend a.k.a Liara to wiggle it for me, Giggidy.

I loved the look; Less seedy than afterlife, and much larger than Chora's Den.

It suited it's purpose i guess. Afterlife was more interactive but i always felt i had more time to play around in ME2 so it made sense to do more in nightclubs like drink and dance though i guess you can still do those things in ME3 anyway. I think from the bars we have had in all 3 games Purgatory is maybe my third favorite.

I'm not sure if it was NOT intentional....The fact that you couldn't go to the lower levels of Purgatory was disappointing...but Aria herself comments on how uptight/crappy a club Purgatory is..

Your analogy of Afterlife being Vegas and Purgatory being Alabama might be intentional....given Aria's views on Purgatory..

You can dance in Purgatory, go up to the edge where the chick is gyrating on the dance floor, although you are more sort of watching her dance up close.... still !   I didn't mind it, not quite as sexy as some of ME 1's areas with the close up dancing but still :)

Dude, isn't there already enough Asari butt in your fantasies? Shepard sipping some cocktail in a stripping bar while the Reapers are busy destroying Earth...Yeah, totally believable. >_>

The 2 drunk Shepard scenes were quite amusing, though.

Well it was thrown pretty high.  Sarcasm doesn't translate well in forums.

This is exactly how I felt, really cool (apart from the 2d cut outs...) but nothing to do.

I agree. Purgatory was truly disappointing. It has a nice set up, but sadly, the bar isn't all that memorable. It's dark and doesn't have a great atmosphere, and I noticed also that it doesn't feel finished. The lower levels aren't accessible, and viewing them, you can see what appears to be cutouts or very rudimentary figures. Compared to Chora's Den and Afterlife, which both had character, Purgatory feels very simple. The bars are simple tables, and there is very minimal tables, settings and bar shelves. It almost feels like a repurposed space. When Aria states that she really is in purgatory, I feel for her. Purgatory is a massive step back in terms of bars in the Mass Effect series. Hell, even that tiny Presidium bar in ME1 was more memorable. They definitely dropped the ball here - Purgatory could have been so much more.

I find the worst thing about the bar is that every single person in the background, lower and upper levels look as though they're cardboard cutouts...

It looks good, it looks big, but you can only visit 3 small sections (Dance floor, bar and Aria)...
WTH?

When I saw it from outside I thought that it will be like Omega's club, but smaller.

I admit Afterlife was better, but then again i wonder why i should care so much about the clubs in the first place.

Well, if they do Omega as DLC then maybe you can go back to Afterlife? Doubtful tho...

It was done purposefully. Talk to Aria there. She feels the exact same way about Purgatory being a "pathetic excuse for a nightclub".

What this game needs is more places where I can drown my sorrows to alcohol.

I clearly need more schooling, as I know nothing of either Las Vegas or Alabama strip clubs, having never been to America in my life, and having little knowledge of the different states' strip clubs. If I ever do visit the US, I'll be sure to check them out ASAP.
