If bioware expands the options for the ending, they should definetly take notes from this.

The most important reason why the OP's ending is so much better than the one we got is because there is dialogue explaining everything. Vigil on Ilos in the first game explains everything clearly, for all intents and purposes you know what the keepers do, you know what Sovereign is trying to do, you know the purpose of the Citadel, you know what Saren is going to do, and in addition you are told how you can stop him. Sure technological singularity can be bought as an explanation if the game can provide us with arguments for it, rather than stating "it will happen, that's just the way it is". If they did as was done in this one, explain that the civilization that created the reapers was almost extincted by synthetics, then it would make a lot more sense, obviously. You see how they could think that, how the problem is real in their minds. However, there is nothing to indicate such a historical context to the catalyst, or even his origins.
Some people fail to understand that people are not necessarily complaining about no happy ending, an ending without sacrifice. Geez, I could even buy the story about technological singularity. The problem arises when it is not explained or hinted in any possible way. If we knew the origins behind the catalyst and the ones who created the reapers, that makes it all so much easier to believe their logic as well.

Only thing I would add to it is an epilogue detailing what happened afterwards, entirely dependent on your choices, like DA:O. Oh and a final scene to just chill with my LI somewhere. That would be a great final scene. If your ending plus those addendums had been added in, I would be raving about ME3 for years instead of sitting here devastated and confused as to why they ended things so poorly.

It reads a bit plainly (probably my personal failing, since I lack a vivid imagination...), but with Hale and Meer's touch that they tried with the current ending?
Ohgodsyes.
BIOWARE. HIRE THIS PERSON. NOW.

This is how it should have been...
Arkis, you legend. This is what the ending of Mass Effect should have been, perfection.
Well done, well done.

In a perfect world, however, that entire sequence with the Catalyst God Child would be removed entirely (hell, everything after getting hit with Harbinger's laser would be removed entirely or at least left in as a "mental challenge" resulting from Harbinger's laser where the game would continue afterwards). I admit this would be more effort but frankly the entire deus ex machina and forced plot contrivence of the Catalyst would still leave a somewhat sour taste in my mouth even if this fourth (and vastly superior option) were to be included.

This ending, would put almost everyone at ease.
Then, the game could take into account your reputation/paragon/renegade bar to determine if/how Sheperd gets off the Crucible and to what extent the Reaper War finishes. So max reputation, having an LI and appropriate Paragon/Renegade points would result in being reunited with your team and LI, for proper epilogue content.
This was a great read
I second that notion.

Great ending, very well done - especially love the description of rachni swarming a ship (I always expected this to happen), Grunt/Wrex killing brutes, Geth Primes in action, etc - THAT'S WHAT I WANTED (and expected).

And to have your Shep say "Toldja, I keep my promises. "

Also, it's kinda meh if we're suddenly able to beat the reapers in a straight up fight. It really takes away all the sense of fear and power you had concerning the reapers since game 1.
