Xbox360 has Kinect for thousands of dollars, PC has a simple Microphone with a bunch of dollars. What will you choose?
With the power of the .NET Framework and Windows Speech Recognition I started working on a little project that wants to enable voice command features on the PC version of Mass Effect 3. This mod is WIP and there is no official ETA but expect a download link to be available by the end of this month.

If you want to help me with the project or share your thoughts and suggestions feel free to add me as friend here on BSN or Origin (my account is raz3rITA).

ETA and Download Link:

End of March.

Working Features:

Change Weapon
Reload
Medigel
Grenade
Squadmate Move (Liara Move, Garrus Move...)
Squadmate Attack (Liara Attack, Garrus Attack...)
Powers (Incinerate, Stasis...)
Talk
Use (Interact...)
Map
Save Game
Menu
...

WIP Features:

Squadmate Powers (Liara Singularity...)
Dialogue Wheel
...

Official Group on BSN:

Awesome job.

I don't get why they didn't implement this themselves. How is it any different than using kinect? It's just the microphone on the kinect that's being used right?

So it should have been no problem to just port that voice command code over. Bad move on biowares part imo.

Anyway, I think it's awesome that you're doing this. Thanks.

Kinect has built in voice recognition software so Bioware didn't have to deal with making one from scratch.

They had to write some kind of code to make the Kinect know what all of their words mean.

They could have used that same stuff and just intergrated it with the Windows Speech Recognition. It works really well and it's how many people are doing it themselves. I'm sure Kinect and Windows Speed Recognition are extremely similar given they are both Microsofts.

If Bioware just took what they did for Kinect and applied it to WSR, it doesn't seem like it should have been any more work, and if it was, not much more.

But of course, I don't really know how these things work, so who knows the their reasons for doing what they did.

im not gonna waste time looking it up, but i'd bet Microsoft made a deal with them so they could sell more xbox copies, just like they did with Call of Duty. id love to have this voice recognition working for my next playthrough. keep up the work

If you want to have some fun with it in the mean time, just download Windows Speech Recognition Macros.

It lets you make your own voice command macros, very easy to use. There are little tutorials on youtube showing how to use it with Mass Effect.

Until this guys project comes out, it's the next best thing and still very useful.

Will it also recognize the commands "Red", "Green", or "Blue"?

Kidding aside, I'm really looking forward to trying this out. Thank you for your hard work.

This is very, very intriguing, please go on!
Would've loved to be able to use VR in dialogues, but still this stuff is great!

So what is Bioware's excuse for not bringing this to PC? Not asking for voice commands bur I'm curious.

The feature I'm looking forward the most is using voice in dialogue wheel. It's so unfair that Xbox users got this cool thing from the start, and Bioware didn't bother to allow us to use mics. :(

Anyway. Keep up the good work!
