Has anyone been toying with shotguns? I would love to know which one do you guys like most?
I got Disciple II and teamed it up with my Shotgun build infiltrator (max damage output and powers, but halffitness). Playing a shock trooper role. It works extremely well, in a gold geth match I net 120,000 points everytime with this set up, grant sabotage help but even with Cerberus gold match getting 80k point was relatively easy and my teammates were very good yet the score I get looks almost like am carrying the team. This is not self-aggrandizing but an interesting observation since I don't get this kind of score with other weapon combination. Infiltrator synergize very well with shotgun imo, works equally well with sniper and perhaps more fun with such active role.

I haven't unlocked much of the shotguns but I seem to enjoy moderate clipsize and moderate damage and relatively fast fire rate so I can do sustain dps rather than 2 heavy shots and reoad.  Disciple stagger enemies so that help BIG time. It staggers everything even Banshee. Plus it's also VERY accurate with anti-choke mod it works almost like a heavy rifle.

I want to try Geth Plasma Shotgun since it has higher base DPS but haven't unlocked it yet as I spend everything on specter pack. Some people suggest max out crappy common weapons by spamming Recruit crate to get katana x, scimitar x etc and so you can max out weapon mods. Might worth a try.

What's your thought on shotgun and what class do you play with?

For shotguns, I'm trying to get better with the Geth Plasma Shotgun as I had the misfortune to receive the X version (got it just about ten times in row in my spectre packs, seriously). I'm seriously terrible with it. I can miss two or three times at point blank range, but I think it might have something to do with lag. That or I should just stay the hell away from shotguns.

Yeah i think the way projectile shoots from Geth shotgun is a bit weird. I miss it a lot in SP for whatever reason. You kind of have to take time to aim it.

Good infiltrators either CQC or Sniper should always have the best score.

I have a great gold squad, where all the members contribute equally, but I alway have the highest score as infiltrator, just the nature of the class.

I use Widow and Claymore respectively

I...how do you manage that? I had a least a 75% hit rate with my Claymore in the demo, and that was mostly because I'd try to mailslot guardians.

Honestly, if I knew I'd tell you. Sometimes I'm fairly sure that my projectiles are just going through the enemy - at this point I'm almost certain there has to be some sort of latency issue involved. I've used other (normal projectile) shotguns and I rarely miss with them.

Do you usually shoot from the hip or aim down the sights?

I'd hip aim until I get close to my target, then fine aim and drop the circle near their head.

To be fair, it was on my Krogan Battering Ram, so the Claymore saw little play except against Atlases and Phantoms.

Try liberating a Geth shotgun in SP and taking it to the Citadel range?

Geth Plasma is difficult to aim close up relative to the other shotguns. It compensates for this by having the projectiles track so you can hit things at significant range.

Right now i've been using the graal as my main weapon. It's not bad you just have to get used to timing your shots because the rounds are heavier and take longer to reach the target. Charging the shots are absolutely devastating though and can one-shot most enemies. I saw the geth plasma shotgun do the same thing and I really can't wait to unlock it and try it out

I would do rough aiming, then do fine aiming when I get near my 'target' spot.

To be fair, it was on my Krogan Battering Ram, so the Claymore saw little play except against Atlases and Phantoms.

Hm, I might just do that. Thanks for the help - my team will definitely appreciate it when I cease struggling to take down basic enemies with one of the most powerful shotguns in the game xD

If I may recommend, set your camera sensitivity to high and learn to play with it. Makes a world of difference in pretty much any game.

Oh, and you should be using fine aiming unless you are right on top of something and need to snap a shot off, you need your reticule to go red so the shots track your target.

I knew I was missing something! People kept talking about "shots tracking" and I wasn't seeing anything like that. I had the Accuracy mod maxed out so I figured I could fire from the hip. Well, don't I feel like an idiot now.

And what does changing to high sensitivity do? By that do you mean how fast I look around?

I use the Claymore when I have it (demo and SP), and the Katana when I don't, or when I need the cooldown speed.

The Claymore's a vicious beast in CQ, and it's got a decent range too (2 armour bars on a Bronze Atlas at some distance), so the reload time isn't such an issue - you can blow away the dangerous enemies, then duck back to reload.

I'm a vanguard.

Geth Pasma Shotgun (GPS)

cons:
slow projectile speed - hard to hit running or even pulled enemies
slow reaction - since this shotgun fire can be held - game w8ing for some time before fire

pros:
u can hold fire, w8 as long as u want, aim a victim with scope... and when u will fire - projectiles will auto-aim and make a huge damage, it's easy even to snipe with this ability
long range

Graal Spike Thrower

It's like GPS, but more accurate.
Add: and much better for infils, cause easy to make a headshot

And, when u press fire - i't will break your cloak. But if u charge one of this shotguns, and then cloak... When u will actually fire - it will not decloak u, so - imo they are the best for infiltrators.

M-300 Claymore can be good too... But, it's weight is too much for me.

PS Sorry for my English.

Geth Plasma Shotgun charged up shots one hit kill nearly enemy from close or long range on Silver.
Its like a sniper shotgun, most powerful gun in the game imo.

The charging shotguns are fun, but it seems they miss a lot if you're not host.

The default shotgun is pretty good, but you'll definitely want the damage mod at max. For all other shotguns I think the clip mod is a must.

Graal Spike Thrower.

Can charge up like the Geth Plasma, does tremendous damage out of it, and is wildly accurate so you can hit targets at medium range with little to no problems. Weight isn't terrible either.

I want to like the disciple due to it's low weight... but it takes 3 point-blank shots to kill a single cerberus trooper on bronze. What's up with that? It's only a disciple I but come on... I'm even specced out for weapon damage.

I think it compensates with slightly higher rate of fire and stagger effect than standard shotgun. But yeah katana will do better base damage.

Graal and claymore are the ones I've used and loved.
Soldier and Sentinel builds, on a Krogan sentinel they work well.
On Bronze you can take on a Reaper wave of brute and banshee combined and stand good odds with either shotgun + close combat Krogan and not break much of a sweat.

However you'll be in a strong support mode with the limited clip size.
That and the slow reload or when the gun forgets to reload will be annoying, so if a tank take another strong long range back up.

Mods on Shotguns are a must, you may want to invest in cheap recruit packs for the bonuses.

Scimitar, no penalty for missing makes it easier to kill dodging opponents, better sustained fire than other shotguns makes it good for defending positions against multiple enemies
