Graal , Geth plasma shotgun and claymore are awesome for my heavy characters. Scimitar,disciple for the drell or Asari due to the weight and rate of fire that help while you're waiting for cooldowns.
My favourite though is the M22 eviscarator since it fit nicely between the heavy and light shotguns and does decent damage as long as you don't miss.

Only shotgun I used much was the Claymore.
With a level 5 Barrel, that thing's damage is off the scale.

I tried using the Geth shotgun but gave up on that real fast. I didn't realize it used projectiles instead of hitscan at first and projectiles off host in this game = fail.
