Just killed Flemeth, used the exploit. Morrigan wanted Flemeth's Grimoire and I get everything else. I got a key to open her door and chest., 5c, a robe (mage), and the Grimoire. Thanks devs (extreme sarcasm)!

The exploit? Is this the force field trick or some other exploit?

@ Pennoyer, Have a tank equipped to resist fire 50-75% will do (I used Wade's Drakeskin armor, Superior set). After the conversation, the tank stands ground and pelts with arrows. All other PM's move to a greater distance away from Flemeth's fire and buffeting attacks and pelt with arrows. Wynne heals tank and uses occasional magic on Flemeth.

I beat Flemeth just using taunt then force field. I never found the need to equip any resistance gear or use any resistance potions.

I'm missing the core point.

Is it that you expected the crazy old woman who lives in a hovel and dresses in rags to have a lot of hidden loot?  The point of doing the quest was the Grimoire, no reason to think she'd have much else.

If its that the adding the 5 copper is just insulting, like leaving a penny tip: I didn't think of it that way, but now I do and I think it's quite funny. :D

Also, near the end of the battle, have your tank equip melee weapons and rush in for a kewl death scene.

@ kormesios, Yes, Flemeth's been around for 100's of years (longer?). She has killed countless times. Yet she has collected absolutely nothing in that time. Granted she disdains all things civilized... She is a demon right? A demon without ambition, odd.

@ Pennoyer, same effect. In my game, my main is level 12 and Wynne does not have the Force Field spell.

What do you expect her to have? We only value things we want and can use. What would you expect her to collect?

Unfortunately the loot of those ancient, powerful creatures of doomy doom is rather silly, most of the time...

I suppose Flemeth never cared for gathering riches. Why should she? What would she be buy in the wilderness? She probably didn't even bother to loot the templars when they came to visit. If you can assume high dragon form, your need for armor and swords is limited too.

Flemeth isn't dead though. She knew you were coming to kill her, so had already moved anything of real value to her new home.

Then what is she doing with 5c? Is she going to a nearby village for a pastry? :crying: mmm pastries.

Did she make Morrigan's robes? Maybe she stole them then enchanted them. Where did she get her grimoire? Let's see, the cover is animal hide and the pages are human flesh. She stole her own clothes, catches her food, so OK she needs nothing because she has spent the last millenium hiding yet growing in power. Odd.

Might she have need of poltices and their ingredients?

she has all that she needs, the 5c is probably left over from selling the bits of the mirror she took from morrigan.  The rest having been spent on ink and parchment.

I have to say that I feel this is less a question of storytelling logic and more one of player motivation. I liked that you could loot most of the stuff (of varying usefulness) from killed enemies in the BG series (Yes, you may not necessarily need your 437th full plate armor, but it's nice that it's there to take anyway), more powerful enemies also regularly had at least one or two items of true value (Part of that is, of course, lost since you can't learn powerful spells from scrolls in the DA:O system unfortunately, though I hope BW reintroduces something along those lines in future installments. I'd very much like to get a powerful new spell or ability from a slain foe, beyond specializations, that is), and apart from many foes not having any interesting loot at all, much of the loot you actually DO get doesn't really *seem* all that awesome.
Part of that is, of course, simple psychology, it's obvious for example that +1 armor penetration in the DA:O universe is fairly useful, but it still just doesn't sound as awesome as +10 armor penetration, even if it would technically do the same (If all armors simply gave 10 times as much armor, weapons did ten times as much damage, etc).

Another thing that's odd is that this part of the "kill monsters, take their stuff, move on" routine that is always fun (Even in a roleplay-focused, non-grindy game, even without randomized loot, of which I'm by the way not overly fond either) is fairly weak both in ME and in DA:O, it seems like this would actually be one of the easiest things to do in a game like DA:O that has both such useful item creation tools AND doesn't suffer all to much from overpowered items.

Yeah, it's silly, but honestly I'm happy to find the Sword of Ogre Decapitation with its mostly useless bonus, I treasure my Dagger of Deepstalker Skinning, even though I'll never use it, I love the Amulet of Fiery Doom that makes all other magic trinkets useless due to its out-of-whack boni, and I'll collect them even if the planet is on fire. I feel like BW's games, as much as they have improved in storytelling, character development and similar matters, have lost a lot of the simple joy of finding a new, interesting item behind every locked door. And in my opinion that is one aspect where BG is still just plain better.

Don't forget Morrigan's eternal gratitude. Which probably counts for less if one isn't trying to woo her, but still...

While its true Flemeth doesn't have much the High Dragon has alot of stuff but I don't think any of it was breathtakingly good.

You know, one of those attribute, or talent or skill books would have been nice.
