The best assault rifle...

Primarily it's the one with a rapid fire, so the Vindicator when stability is added, the Particle Rifle with an ammo and damage mod, and a few others.
But in the end the really slow but high damage weapons just don't work well in higher difficulties unless you're a soldier.

Vindicator for light weight yet high damage.
I was able to carry this and shotgun on Vanguard and have very low cool downs. I think this is the perfect AR for a Vanguard that wants to carry one.

This.
IMO the heavier weapons are fine for your squadmates since weight don't matter. Equipping them with a Geth Pulse rifle or the Particle Rifle allows for a nice suppression fire.

The Phaeston. Packs one hell of a punch without sacrificing accuracy to do it.
Amen to that. Glad to see some Phaeston love ITT. All of the AR sucked imo (except the Avenger) until I got that. I use nothing else. It comes with recoil dampeners built in allowing me to put other mods on it.
- I should add that I roll a Sentinel Shepard. All the other guns are too damn heavy for the weak damage/huge recoil they have. I finally got the Revenant in my game. I bought it for squadmates, but that thing sprays like a garden hose with a thumb over it even at close range.

The avenger is also pretty good this time around.
Explosive inferno ammo with a headshot bonus does wonders against everything.

I haven't tried infiltrator yet, but I think sniper suits them better since they have dilation bonus as well as damage bonus. I find the Saber works well with other support class like Engineer and Adept. I carried only the Saber in most of my playthru once I got it. Yeah, it sucks that you'll only get it at a later stages of the game. Would have been fun running the Saber around the whole timeSidNitzerglobin wrote...

M-99 Saber. Slowish reload speed but it two shots any mob with or without shields when it reaches Level 10. Three shots mobs with shields at level 5. Brutes are a complete joke, and Banshees will go down relatively quick with it. This was on the normal game setting, haven't bother with the higher settings yet.
Same here. Brutes go down easily coupled with biotic combos and other powers on hardcore. Add in a scope, and it literally transforms into a sniper. I like how they sound too.
Yeah, after checking it out on a couple of test run missions, I was kinda debating just dropping the Raptor and carrying the scoped Saber as my default rifle w/ my infiltrator but I lose the time dialation and the ability to see through smoke grenades. Sucks that you don't get it until more or less the end game.
Few questions though, is it possible to get X version of weapons in the campaign and do weapons carry over in NG+?

Yep, I just carried around the Revenant and nothing else in the endgame. Huge clips, lots of ammo, near instant Adreno Rush, and Incendiary bullets. Add the stability upgrades and the scope and its straight easymode.
I could practically kill anything in half a clip.

Love the Falcon. With max upgrades and AP ammo, can cut through Brutes, Ravagers and Harvesters like a hot knife on butter.

Adrenaline rush and that gun is an Death's scythe! Brutes, Banshees, Primes, Mechs, Phantoms... They all fit in one clip XD. So god damn accurate I dont need a scope for head shots from the hip! And on long distances.
I fire up adrnaline rush and walk like a T800 in a police precinct. I think I will try to solo silver with that thing

I use the Phaeston on my sentinel Shep too. I tried out a few others but I keep coming back to it.

As long as you have a sniper in your squad, or a Carnifex with a scope, you won't need any other gun.
Its high rate of fire rips apart Barriers and Shielding alike, while the Incendiary Ammo tears into armour and health. The Stability Dampeners make it effective even at long-medium range, provided you maintain fire.

With adrenaline rush it was so easy to just shoot 2 bursts (at most) in the head to kill many of the enemies encountered. It felt almost as powerful as the mattock in ME2.

Phaesten. lol. some idiot said it packs a punch lol its weak as hell but improved in every way over the avenger, low tier gun. It can take a large amount of rounds to get a kill on bronze. Revenant is for scrubs who spray and pray.
Valkyie is mid tier, solid gun. Saber is the best AR. Geth Pulse upgraded is pretty good, the fire rate and accuracy make up for the weaker damage output but great gun for people who don't have the best shot.
oh, you guys are talking about storyline on easy? lol pick whatever feels good to you.. choices don't matter!! lol until you get online
sadly, I have to retire my favorite characters and play the scrubby ones to level them up
