I loved this ending and got goosebumps when I read the final battle scene as the races unite! I WANT THIS ENDING FOR MASS EFFECT 3!
The best re-wright of the Endings I've seen, it's the one I accept as canon

Fantastic work well written and pretty fitting to the mass effect fiction as a whole. I think this like many things people have said is not entirely what I want, (although it is by far the closest I have read) perhaps in terms of details or conclusions but where this really wins over what Bioware created is that it was written by someone who genuinely seemed to care about what they were creating. Whether you want exactly this, something like this or something else entirely, I think all of us can be in agreement that this is the passion and attention that Mass Effect and we the fans deserved.
Thank you for that. Very enjoyable read.

Wow, that was amazing. It actually gave me some closure on the whole ending issue.
Previously I'd favoured the indoctrination theory but this is even better in many ways, Thanks for posting it!

Phenomenal! This is what should save Bioware's ass from those crappy endings. Have our choices matter! And bravo to whoever wrote that! It's gold! It's Shepard!

Wow too bad paid writers can't come up with an amazing stuff like this, and its sad.

Wow, just...wow!
To me, Anthony is a genius, because not only did he create the missing pieces to this pseudo-puzzle that we got thrown on our ME3 discs/files but also helped us piece it together...
...what a good writer should've done in the first place, as harsh as that sounds.
Thank you, I want to take this as my ending, if nothing better or equal comes from Bioware's side.

Bioware should hire you.
I liked the current endings but these are much better.

"Shepard: No you've given me YOUR options. We've shown you we can win,
and you're looking for a way out, a way to cripple us because you can't
do it the way you used to. You failed at playing God and now you want me
to wipe out your mistakes! Well I won't. I choose what we've ALWAYS
chosen. I choose to take our damn chances."
I...WISH THIS WAS IN THE GAME.
:O:O
This could easily be woven in, no need to even horribly re-do the endings. THIS IS PERFECTION.
I swear to you, I was waiting for something like this to happen, and it was a bit shocking in game to realize I HAD to choose between the option Starchild gave me.

This gives me goosebumps. And the thing is that it wouldn't take that much work on behalf of Bioware. You'd need to bring back voice actors obviously, but you wouldn't need to work on any combat gameplay. This would please the artistic integrity lot as well as it adds another ending without changing the others, and you could still add extra changes, say if your assets are at 4000 then Sheppy watches the fleet obliterate the last of the Reapers and closes his eyes at the end, as Earth comes into the weird emblem light over the planet of the Mass Effect series, and have a short epilogue afterwards of all your surviving squad mates and assets and planets. But like 5000 plus Shep gets saved by the Normandy just before he bleeds out on the Citadel and you get a happy epilogue ending with Shepard and his LI.

This is great stuff. It's exactly the choice that I wanted to make at the very end of the game. I actually tried to walk off the platform or go back down the elevator and not make a choice but the game would not let me. I still don't like the Starchild and think that his philosophy is too easily refuted by in-game events, but if BioWare insists on keeping him, either something like this or indoctrination theory is the way to go.

Bravo good sir... Perhaps fix the type-o in the title though.. It's hard to take a re-WRIGHT seriously...

This is the best damn thing I've ever read on BSN. Seriously, all I wanted was the choice to tell that little bastard where he could stick it and take my chances.
Though I will admit it's a little fan-fictiony and the dialogue could use some trimming down...but STILL!
I doubt this will officially be produced, but if anyone starts a massive modding campaign to put this in the game...you have my sword (sword = artistic and game design skills, both of which I use professionally).

admittedly, I began reading this with hesitation but my countenance rapidly changed as I read on. I like how you took what was already there and essentially polished it. You sir, achieved cohesion, bravo

I also began reading this with a large amount of doubt. But this is exactly what I would of loved to see in the ending. I need to be able to tell the Star Child to go screw himself. And I would love to see the actual fleets I recruited in action. I would love to see both the infantry and the fleets fighting the reapers, and having the actual battle change depending on who I recruited. If I get only the Quarians, I want to see a squad of them get wiped out. But, if I got the Geth and Quarians, I want to see a squad of Geth Primes charge and take heavy casulities to save the Quarian position. I want to see an army of Rachni charge the Reaper position. I want to see a Krogan about to be shot, only for his attack to be sniped by a salarian STG team. Little things like that in the cutscene would of made the ending amazing.

Something like the end to KOTOR

Whatever happened to not being able to win through conventional means?
