Rannoch Reaper would of died much sooner if someone bothered to fire a Thanix cannon shot or two at it.
The best re-wright of the Endings I've seen, it's the one I accept as canon

Love it.
You know what's hilarious though. There were a few lines, especially in the beginning, that I thought were corny or poorly written... Then I realized that those were Bioware's original dialogue...
You win, OP, you win big.

I very much enjoyed that. Honestly, the first time I finished the game by choosing one of the three options (green) I came right here trying to find out how I got the worst ending and expecting to feel stupid for my moment of doubt when I thought that what I got was in fact, one of the 'good' endings.
I got chills just from reading what amounts to a rough draft of what should have been the real ending, I can only imagine how intense it would have been if that had actually been how things went rendered into game cinematics.
I would gladly spend quite a bit of time playing multiplayer to get war assets up to snuff to achieve that outcome. From what I've seen so far, I've been thinking that the indoctrination theory was going to be our best case scenario, and while that line of thought is interesting and would make for a very good twist on the ending we got, after reading this I think I'd rather things play out this way.

Very nice read!
I totally relate to the notion that there is no "Doomsday Device" that will end all our trouble with the reapers but that it needs blood, sweat and tears and a united galaxy to kick those pesty insects to where the sun won't shine.
This is a very very nice ending.

I'm really impressed. This is incredibly well written. The end isn't complete, I would like to see it finish, but besides that I would definitely go through with this.
I may be soft, but I would also like to see Shepard have a chance to survive if that is possible.

Bumping this because it deserves it. This is amazing writing. Seriously, Bioware should hire you.

OP, if the game ended like this, I'd have given it a 11/10. Seriously, I'd have my game bronzed.. no, coated with gold and mounted on the wall to preserve it in shiny glory..... after playing it at least a dozen times first.
Well done!

I'm sorry, but I have to put up a dissenting view here. This ending is WAY too long. We've already had a lengthy discussion just beforehand, and now we're getting another one, and from the way it's written it's just a cutscene with no player interaction.
Now, before you dismiss me as a "console kiddie" who "just wants to play Call of Duty", I'll point out that I scour the Normandy between every mission, 100% every system, and read all codex entries and planet descriptions. I love lore, and I love dialogue. This, however, is too long and wordy. Plus Shepard has some really long lines here that certainly don't fit in with personality of my Shepards. Is it better than the ending we got - yes, but only if that's the ONLY ending we get. I'm hoping that this was all a really stupid stunt and that Indoctrination Theory is right.

I agree with AmstradHero, it's mostly rudimentary wordplay that doesn't really expand all that much over the original ending. I honestly could have inferred or extrapolated most of that explanation from what had been presented to me by WunderSpaceGodKid. The thing that I do like is the fourth option it introduces - the only choice I'd been robbed of - having the battle with the Reapers play out without the Crucible's intervention based on War Assets.

For the love of God and all that is holy, BioWare... PLEASE read the story linked to in the OP and read it carefully. That is a proper conclusion to this game series.

I really do like it, but Bioware writers would never admit they messed up and then take pointers from fanfiction.

The effort is good, but you can't accept as canon something that isn't canon, simply because you don't own the franchise or have the copyright. You can live in your own bubble and refuse to look outside, though, if that suits you, but then every Joe and his dog could write or pretend their own ending.
What is canon is what Bioware and its writers decide, hence we're pushing so we get something acceptable. What anyone in their own microworld wants to accept as canon, will only be an illusion while living in denial.

I loved that re-write. If only the ME3 writers had put that much consideration into the ending. It's immensely more harmonious with the cerebral and poignant dialogue and conclusion that the fanbase of this franchise fully expected. Its shameful that the writers tasked with the conclusion of this epic trilogy should evidence such a disaffected view of the paradigm of choice and its resonating effects that has been the ongoing theme of the franchise. Fans were sucker punched by the endings provided, which played out as a RGB colorized version of the same black and white re-run. The three fundamentally different endings somehow managed to all feel identical and were inconclusive in nearly every dimension. What is truly remarkable here is that they produced something that the overwhelming majority of fans despise while conversely a single fan turned freelance writer can produce in a matter of days the ending that, by my own estimation, the same majority of fans would understand and accept as an apt and appropriate conclusion.
Somewhere out there I recall a post by one of the indoctrinated asking what the big deal was and why everyone was so upset about the ending, after all, he knew from the beginning Shepard would make the ultimate sacrifice. My immediate thought in response to these people, if they are indeed fans and followers of the entire ME trilogy and lore... my response is to ask 'So who was your 2nd most favorite character and what happened to them? If you can answer that question then I yield to your argument.

Bioware could learn a thing or two from the person who wrote this. This would have been an amazing ending to the game.
