Disclaimer: Just my two cents on all this, and of course sorry for creating yet another thread about the ending, but I felt this question was different enough to warrant a new topic page.
While like most fans I dislike the ending and do believe it is quite cheap to have a good 2/3 of the cinematics of the endings being the exact same as all the others apart for a palette change for the mass relay beam, I am doubtful as to having bioware create an entire new ending just for us. I simply do not believe it will happen so this is why I am suggesting just this...
I guess we pretty much agree that the most disheartening part of those final moments is that well, you end up completely stranded as to "what the **** happened there?!?" (Yea, I know it all appears as *'s, but you know what I just said) So yeah, since we are pretty much as stranded as the Normandy on why the ship and the crew did to arrive on this jungle planet and what happens after, a closing sequence like DA 1 or Fallout 3/New Vegas would have been ok by me. A small paragraph per major events like : What happens to Rannoch after? Has the bickering between Quarians and Geth stopped or did it go on? Did some Quarians manage to survive the Geth onslaught after Legion's upgrade? Did the genophage cure really work?
I am one of those that believe that the ending, even how botched it might look like, would have been more than acceptable with simple paragraphs read just like the Fallout 3/NV narrator did. I would have rolled with that and I'd be ****ing about all those whiners. While I do realise that such a way to conclude the trilogy would be somewhat lackluster, I do believe that it would be a good middleground that Bioware should consider.
But yea, other than the fact that the game is too linear compared to the other installments, that Anderson looked like a bloody puppet dancing after he's been shot by Sheppard/TIM and that anything past the conversation between dying Anderson and Sheppard is utter BS, hell, it's a good game and I'm playing it again right now (this time with an imported save).
Even with the linearality and some small glitches I would have given it a good 95%, but eh, the lack of a closing ending makes it more like 80%. Still, like the majority here, I want closure and such a solution would be correct in my book, given the production costs, the VA (who have already moved on by now) needed to redo the speeches and the time required to recreate an entire ending.
Comments? Thoughts? Support? Insults? (Eh, tried to keep it clear, English not being first language and all, so bear with me if mistakes were made!)
Would a Dragon Age style "text" ending save ME3? (warning some spoilers included)

It certainly would help. I want to know if that Geth-Quarian peace lasted, if the Krogans followed Wrex/Eve's lead, what happened to those people on the Citadel(idc twitter) etc.

Nope, not at this point. That would ****** people off even worse.

I would have accepted that. Simple slides with a Meer/Hale voice over would have been okay.

would have seemed half assed and cheesy given the perfection that the rest of the game was, but it would have cut back on A LOT of the anger about how our choices didnt matter.

Yeah, not now. No way.

Well... better than what we had. Though, not in the game style.

No the text ending thing won't be helpful. Personally I did not like it in Dragon Age, and for a 3 game trilogy with a deep epic story till it gets to the end, it deserves more than just some text, and still art.
if you want your voice heard louder got to my blog which I have a link too in my Sig , click on my ME3 review and click on the links to my polls.
1. would you Boycott Bioware if they don't fix the endings
2. do you believe Multiplayer should have no impact on the single player campaign
3. Facebook Campaign demand better endings for ME3

It's funny how Fallout: New Vegas managed a simple slide show with voiceovers FOR EACH OF IT'S DLC PACKS.
And yet ME3 couldn't do even that for the conclusion of an entire trilogy.

It would still have been a stupid ending. But they could have gotten around all the unpleasant implications.

Honestly, no. Having spent a 60+ hours between all three games to ensure success against the Reapers, I personally am not too interested in finding out whether the Krogans and Salarians go to war. What I would want is something similar to the Ocarina of Time ending: as the credits roll, show the different races rebuilding in the aftermath, etc, . I think the visual indicator would be more powerful in showing the player that everything they did didn't amount to nothing.

Yes.
If they closed just 50% of the plot holes surrounding the characters and fleets and galaxy via text, I'd be a happy camper.
BIOWARE: I WOULD PAY FOR IT!

I'd have taken that in place of the Joker 'new begining' scene and stargazer. Both of those just raise far too many last-minute questions.
Also, it'd change based on your choices, which is what we all want to see.

I'd prefer something simple like Fallout New Vegas style slides in the ending, detailing the consequences of your choices.

It would probably substantially cut down on the disappointment, even if the current endings were left in place. We could never realistically expect more than (narrated) text boxes similar to the primary codex entries to deal with all of the various situations, like the fate of the krogan and quarians/geth, but to not even get that seems like a major mistake on BioWare's part. They promised closure, and on all the questions that actually matter to people, they not only failed to provide it, they created new questions to go with the old ones.

Ideally, I'd like to say no. The ending choices themselves are just too limited. Just having some text wouldn't fix the issue of the endings. I feel like there should be more than that especially given that this is the ending of the trilogy. Ideally there would be cinematics involving the VA's that would reflect the actions of your character.

It would have been fine with me. No teleporting squadmates and a text ending would have sufficed to save it for me.

I never minded text-driven endings with the backdrop of a picture or background. However, I do believe we were given a nice little text ending in ME3 - it was all of 2 sentences telling us to wait for DLC.

It's a bit too late for that, I think. They're likely going to have to do what Valve did with portal before the second game released: Update the original game with an alternate ending. If EA chooses to make fans pay for it, there would be a storm of fury so powerful, It would make DA2's Post-Launch forums look like a minor fan discomfort in comparison.

^ Actually, I've seen a lot of people here BEGGING to pay for an alternate ending.

Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal had definite, "this is the end for real guys" endings that were text based, and people were quite satisfied with them, at the time, even if the fate of some of the Bhaalspawn's companions was harsh (oh Viconia...). The endings made sense for each character, we had closure, and we had a very significant choice to make for the Bhaalspawn at the end. The world went on as usual, but the Bhaalspawn's existence at that point could take two VERY divergent paths.
I don't know if that sort of thing would work for such a cinematic series as ME, but it's something to consider. The end of BG2: ToB completed a series, it wasn't all rainbows and unicorns, and it was pretty simple to execute.

No, DA-style ending will not work. This game is supposed to be the last one in trilogy. And assuming that it MUST have a great ending, not just "ok, we wrote some stuff here for you, read it, stfu and ty for your money"

I'm not sure anything less than a DLC could fix the ending.
Having text say "The krogans are now rebuilding, the Salarans are slowly being wiped out and Wrex died from space magic" Wouldn't really be enough. Especially for a high-budget trilogy I was expecting 10-20 minutes of epilogue.

No. If they half-ass it now, they'll just ****** off everybody more. If they're going to fix the ending, they should have all major VAs, proper cutscenes, everything.
