That was one of the most gushing reviews I ahve read. Ahem:
Simply expect one of the best RPGs you have yet played.
So I was wondering why they only gave it 92%. ONLY?! you might say? Well yes I mean Oblivion got 9.3, Baldurs Gate 2 got 9.4 and in terms of other genres Half Life 2 and Bioshock got 9.7!
The score doesn't seem to tie except it 'looks' like it got docked heavily for graphics:
Graphics 8.0
If you want to be a pain about it, you could say that it’s not as shiny as a lot of current-gen games. Not such a bad thing, really.
Hmm, if its not such a bad thing how about you give DA a little more then? I know Im being picky but it 'does' look like it may be the best rpg ever made (Yes im serious - what is its contenders? BG2? Planescape? Clearly from all that has been said, it looks like it will supercede them AND that is without the toolkit etc).
Ah well.
Haha honestly Viz I was thinking the same thing dude, I was like 8.0? Come on why not an 8.5 I can see an 8.5 heck I can see a 9.0 for graphics, but an 8.5 at least. Which would bump it up to like a 9.4-9.5 but I am happy with this review and I am hoping Gamespot and U.S. IGN will give it a nice big fat score.

The plot changes aren't as simple as "that guy dies", either. These interactions are governed by an interestingly-employed moral compass – or rather, a lack of one. A stark contrast against other RPGs, Origins features no such alignment indicator of good or evil actions, simply throwing you to the wind to work things out yourself. Often there are no such clearly-aligned decisions; just a moment of hand-wringing as you struggle to decide which option presented is the one that hopefully won't backfire too badly.
That's pretty exciting. If you're playing a "goodly" sort, I hope there are ways to correct the errors of your mistakes if a certain decision "seemed like a good idea at the time."

combat. You can have the biggest, baddest, unique-armour clad nutcases
ever to accept missions from people wearing exclamation marks, but if
you don't lead them into battle with any kind of plan they will perish
with depressing ease. This doesn't mean that the game is hard, however
- think of the combat as a kind of angry man's chess, a puzzle
to be figured out with wit and cunning as much as fireballs and +7
swords. If things become too much, a quick escape to the options menu
can dynamically change the difficulty, but be warned that Origins
remains a challenging game."
Sold to this chessplayer!

Anybody else notice how much *better* the quality of the writing is in the UK reviews?
Us Americans need to learn to write =)
At least IGN America is usually better than IGN Australia :innocent:
