So I got ME1 and 2 for the PC, but ME3 for the PS3, is there any way to import my previous sharacter despite the cross-platform issue?

Its easy. You have to get the ME2 for PS3 and the Comics DLC for ME2 installed, prior to playing ME2. This DLC fixes all the ME1 variables in your PS3 game. Later they are all being transferred to ME3.

But that way I still can't get the ME1 progress moved over? (Don't get me wrong, a replay isn't a bad thing.. if I can start from the very beginning.) Earliest I can start on the PS3 is ME2? Or is that what that Comics DLC enables?
Sorry I'm a noob with the PS3 stuff, I've been a PC gamer exclusively since the early 90's, this console stuff is... strange to get used to. o.o

You cannot import characters between platforms, it isn't possible.
The Dark Horse Comics prologue on PS3 allows you to make the major decisions from Mass Effect, but all of the smaller decisions are defaulted. For example, Captain Kirrahe never shows up again my play-through on PS3 even though I saved his life on the PC version.
