It annoys me that when he's dying the ME2 LIs don't show up in his memories, nor any of the other past squad members. Shows how much lazy the endings were. Seriously, my Shepard remembers Joker, Anderson, Liara, Ashley...but he wouldn't remember the LI (Miranda)? Bull****.

I find all the Normandy crew surviving, such a large scale war, more unbelievable than the ending we got. For example, lets assume Ashley is your LI, why should she survive and not Liara? Oh wait, you want Liara to survive too and so on. In fact, why should the Normandy not be demolished along with the 100's of other small and large ships?
Or should destroying the collectors base mean Ashley survives? War isn't straight forward nor should it be.
Just because i collected tons of materials, saved Wrex etc, doesn't mean that should automatically = survival.

Im just curious if anyone els feels the same way i do. Because I feel that should have been there for people who wanted it, to be with the person you got so emotionailly attached to.
They don't have to painstakingly elaborate on it, but the option should be there.
nah, it's been done umpteen million times. Almost every other game caters for Disney esque endings.

Sacrificing yourself is just as cliche these days, especially in video games.
Need the option to live so it is worth replaying through to the option to sacrifice yourself.
Same as in Dragon Age: Origins -- a Dalish Elf who sacrifices themselves to destroy the Arch Demon and a Human Mage who performs the Dark Ritual were role-played as too entirely different characters.

What gives Sheperd the right to survive though? As for current crew mates, losing loved ones should occur as it keeps the concept of war and it's consequences realistic. It's like people want the normandy and Ashley and co to be immune to death, whilst billions of others are losing their lives, fighting the exact same war.
I can get my head around why people don't like the ending, however, i can't get my head around people wanting character A and character B to be immune to the surrounding events. It makes no sense.

i personally wouldn't have taken it... for the exact same reason i didnt take morrigan up on her offer at the end of DA:O.
i like stories with the heroic sacrifice, to me they've just got more emotion to them... example, in my opinion one of the most powerful scenes in "we were soldiers" was when the families got the letters from the department of defense.
manly tears and all that.

Sorry, but I'm a little tired of the cliche "sacrifice yourself to save everyone" outcome we see so often. I'd like to have a genuine heroic ending for once.

I dont know about you but real life is full of death and despair, and its mandatory. I dont need it to be mandatory in my games. once again mass effect is about "your" story not "a" story!

yes.
people who played the good guy throughout the entire game in other words played paragon and did everything in LI relations should be allowed to have the choice of the happy ending simply because thats why we love mass effect... because we can decide our own fates in different ways not in 3 colours and 16 same endings with 2% variation lol.
but it shouldnt be easy to get and that way it would provide closure for some and in a way increase the replay value because right now its non existant.

make paragon/renegade and galatic useless crap needed for this kind of ending so ppl who want it can get it and who doesn't want it is not forced to have it.
