Because the way it would work is that doing a good job and getting everyone on side would mean the happy ending, while the sad ending would be for when you've done poorly. That means 'choosing' the sad ending basically means stuffing up your game.DoctorCrowtgamer wrote...
I still have not heard anyone tell me why having a happy ending as an option would hurt those who want a sad ending.
It'd be interesting if the happy ending was the failed ending - like, "well we can't win - lets go hide and have babies"

So we can't have options because people like you have no self control so you have to force your ending on us even if it makes no sense. Got it. You know if you have that little self controll maybe you shouldn't be allowed to buy video games or live on your own in the first place.

ANY NEW OPTIONS ARE GOOD, M'KAY?
...seriously, a bigger choice is preferable to a smaller one, whatever the details.

So you say f.e on Rannoch no peace should be possible, only the choice either to kill Legion or to let Tali commit suicide because some people, which want to do genocide, could feel hurt? Or there should be no option to cure the Genophage only the choice between the kill of Mordin or the sabotage of the cure.
Sorry, but your statement is nonsense

Well Said!
Making an ending that the hero's choices have no impact on is just bad writing plain and simple. Also if it is so "artistic" why did Bioware lie?

That's the perfect question to ask. If their ending was so awesome, so incredible, why lie about it? Why not stay silent, and let it be a glorious surprise?DoctorCrowtgamer wrote...

That they lied, indicates they had doubts about their ending, they knew people would hate it.

Yep if you have nothing to hide you don't lie. If they thought everyone would love this ending they would not have lied.

They mention more Mass Effect (and not just DLC from the sounds of it), but it seems like whatever they did would be a little awkward with Shep still alive, unless it is some prequel type stuff.

The words HAS TO is not Mass Effect. Especially regarding the fate of the character we just shaped through 3 games. Railroading us into one outcome is totally contradictory to the rest of the whole damn series and ugh....Mac Walters why oh why? Anytime I think of that page he scribbled I just get even more frustrated.Tzayqa wrote...

Well said! The phrase " the hero has to" anything is not Mass Effect's style. It has always been about choice's and option's.Tiercel24 wrote...

I think that what he was meaning is that if you play the game completely, with all the side quests, you would end with the happy ending, and I must admit this wouldn't be a "choice", you would be forced to that ending. To make it as a choice they should add a random thing, or a dialogue choice where they ask you "would you like to save the galaxy, or join the Reapers?" or something like that, just like in Space siege. You could like the actual end, with all the intense emotion, but having the possibility to choose a better ending, only few people would choose this one. I'm for having more possibility, and surely the LI ending(better if happy), but I must, again, admit that managing correctly, and fair to everyone, the ending possibilities is difficult.

Long wideo, but he says right things. I already felt it was not a "talk and techy" game anymore when I player the second, and now most of the times you only have 2 dialogue options instead of the usual 3 or more...

Yeah I noticed that to. I dont like that it is just two dailogue options now. Even having a middle ground dialogue option would have been nice. But I missed having the dialogue option that lead to more option's. The ons they have are really good just lack of option's.Chupambrico wrote...

Yes. But only if we had to get a high EMS score (excluding multiplayer). If I get a happy ending, I want to have earned it.
