A happy ending should never be out of the question for Mass Effect. In fact after I succeeded in saving the destiny ascension in ME1 and my entire crew in ME2 I put down my controller and said out load F*** YEAH!
An ending where Shepard doesn't build a house on the homeworld/ doesn't have lots of blue babies/ doesn't find out what a human-turian baby looks like is one sad ending.
What I hate the most about all this is Bioware let us make all these promises with absolutely zero intention of letting us keep them. It just feels like a betrayal at the end.
If they're going to let us promise a house on the homeworld/blue babies/retiring on beach somewhere, they should let us keep those promises. Dammit, I didn't even really care for Jacob, but the man owed me a beer down in Rio, and I intended to take him up on it.

I agree. They need to use that potential. Show what happens if you live and your with your LI in one ending, and show your LI reaction if you die in another ending.ed87 wrote...
There wasnt enough Miranda if you follow her as your LI. It would have been great if there was a cutscene for every LI reacting to your victory/death. A lot of potential there
^ 100x this. If I made the "ultimate sacrifice" (control ending?) I want to see Liara's reaction.

I wonder if they did this and you romanced Kelly if they'd just pan over to the pile of bodies she's in on the Citadel......I only bring it up because I did choose her in ME2 and ME3, and the not knowing what happened to her in that was pretty disappointing.

That's what I hated the most about the ending. The reassurance and hope that they give you from EVERYONE before the final push that is similar to resolution dialogue, not middle of climax dialogue...Delta_V2 wrote...

And then they take all that hope and they smash it against the wall and then throw it into a garbage disposal and wash it down the drain...
After being able to kill two Reapers (the one on Tuchanka killed by Kalross, the one on Rannoch killed by timed synced shots), I was hopeful there would be a way for all the Reapers to go down like that so, even though people would be dying in the fight, some of them would be destroyed without the Crucible.
I still don't get why the fleets didn't pick up on that strategy. The Reapers clearly had a weak point. Then I figured the Crucible would work differently like everyone else. While it wouldn't be a perfect ending, and it would be bitter sweet, I was looking for that kind of satisfiaction.
In the end, I was having an out of body experience. And then I got slapped in the face with the DLC promo.

Yeah, I'd like that option as well. I could live happily ever after with Jack, Miranda, Liara, or Ashley. Surprised there wasn't the chance.

That should be an option. I really personally want this.
The current ending should be an option.
The reapers winning could be an option, hell, I don't care.
I just want actual choices! Not "Red, green, or blue?"

I feel your pain. Casey Hudson said that there was a underlining theme in the games that Sheperd would die in the end. I didn't see that at all. I saw hope in all the games, I saw that Sheperd could do the impossible and he was uncomprimising and that no matter what if everyone just pulls together there is nothing you cant accomplish. And then they take all that hope away in the end, and it crushed me.TJX2045 wrote...

"Turn ON the Mass Effect 3
single player campaign at some point during Saturday, April 28th
(Pacific Time/GMT -7). It does not need to be on for the entire 24 hour
period.
- Tweet Bioware/EA to let them know you are playing in order to show them the number of fans who support them.
- Turn OFF Mass Effect 3 and do not play either single or multiplayer
for the entirety of Sunday, April 29th (Pacific Time/GMT -7). The game
must be shut off for the entire 24 hour period. Do not log in to the BSN
forum during this time.
- Tweet Bioware/EA again to let them know you are demonstrating their potential loss of customers."
Just spreading the word, hold the line people! Show Bioware what they could lose!
