the relays are gone in all 3 endings

Obviously untrue.

Evidence:
(1) Visual evidence: In Control, the centre of the Citadel does not explode, and the
second part of the mass relay scene where parts fly in all directions
does not happen.
(2) Logic: the Catalyst says "releasing the energy of the Crucible will end the cycle, but it will also destroy the mass relays". The thing is, using the Control option does not end the cycle, it only makes Shepard its (more benevolent) guardian. He *may* choose to end the cycle permanently by flying the Reapers into a black hole, but he may also hedge his bets and see where things go without intervention. The difference between then and now is that now a being with empathy for organics has guardianship of organic life in the galaxy. This is a good option.

unless your control ending is different than that one, they blow up.

Sacrafice's are needed to be made. The reapers must be destroyed for ever.

Destroy actually gave me hope, because the god child tells you that even you are part synthetic. He was trying to deter you from that choice by telling you that you would not survive. But it is the only ending that you survive in.

If Shepard survives regardless of what the child said, who's to say other synthetics didn't.

I chose destroy, only ending that came close to making sense to me drop kicking the god child in the face.

This.

Destroy is the best option you get rid of the Reapers for good.
The consensus Geth and EDI can recreated.
It's a win/win

EDI can walk out of the Normandy, and Shepard can survive, despite the Catalyst saying otherwise, in the destroy ending.

Who's to say the geth didn't survive as well, and the game just didn't show/tell you?

Blue Option: Reapers were indoctrinating TIM so there for YOU are indoctrinated and keep the Reapers alive.
Green Option: Force the entire galaxy in become synthetics against their will. The Reapers would have done the same thing in their own way. Again. Reapers win.
Red Option: Kill ALL synthetics including EDI, the Geth, and the Reapers. The Reapers die, but you just destroyed a new form of life that barely had its chance to live. (Geth become individuals.) Supposedly the cycle will repeat anyway and synthetics will rise and kill organics again, and again... Reapers technically win.
Either way. BioWare ****s you.

Destroy is the only ending where
a) Shep can live, and
B) You get dead Reapers.

So it's the obvious choice.

In a sense. Although every known case of sythetics attacking organics has been due to either organic hostility (geth) or Reaper influence (zha'til and geth).

Someone brought it up in a different thread: Casper the Genocidal Ghost was wrong about shep dying, so what's stopping him from being wrong about EDI/Geth?

That's why, though I am intrigued by the Extended Cut, I'm also concerned. By leaving the ending ambiguous, it's possible that the Entity was lying. Likely even given the 'survival' scene. I don't really want that taken away from me.

Control = Shepard becomes the reapers, relays blow up, brainy people transfer Sheps mind from a Sheaper into a robot body like EDI did , Sheapers ferry everyone home then rebuild the relays and fly into sun = Everybody wins, cue a SEXY DANCE PARTY!! xD

I like how you think!

I love how everyone always talks about the three endings like they're picking the lesser of 3 evils.

It's never, "I picked Control because it felt right."  It's, "I picked Control because it felt the least wrong."

Very satisfying, wouldn't you agree?

This, exactly. In a way I can appreciate that the choice isn't pretty, but you're right that it takes away the satisfaction of "ending the Reaper threat," whichever way you do it. Hopefully with the Extended Cut we'll be shown how things work out, and it'll make the choices a little easier to swallow.

Shepard lives... because naturally being hit by a Reaper beam, getting shot and being gravely wounded with blood streaming from him, he is going to survive very long... stuck under rubble... while 2KM sized Reapers are literally falling over crushing entire cities.

Far more likely Shepard gasps as he gets squished or bleeds out before anyone can get to him.

Bioware want Shepard dead. Thus Shepard is going to die regardless of what ending you pick.
End of story

I dont know how you can pick Synthesis.  You are rewriting EVERYONE's DNA without their knowledge or consent and think thats right?

Control is equally flawed because after Shepard watches Saren and TIM try and fail to control the Reapers (telling TIM 10 minutes before "We are not ready to wield that power!") there is NO way he would suddenly believe it on his own.

Destroy is the only one that makes any sense because its Shepard's goal since ME1.  Yes the Geth have to be sacrificed, but war requires sacrifice.

I feel bad for EDI and the geth, but ending the cycle is priority #1. The destruction ending is the only one that kills the reapers and ends the cycle beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Control is the best ending - Your pulling space jesus by sacrificing yourself for everyone including the Reapers to survive.

Destroy is the selfish renegade ending - Your conducting ethnic cleansing and those choosing this option just so they can survive.

Same situation was done in the original Fallout 3.
You either sacrifice yourself as a saint or be a jerk and make someone die for you. With that added choice of wiping out anyone that isnt a 'pure' human - which includes yourself by that point.

Personally I had myself thinking "this is it" until I saw Shepard breathing, making me question if EDI is dead, or if the Geth are. Since we are told that this decision we'll lead to Shepards death as well.

<Shrug> Guess I'll find out when the new DLC comes out.

I thought hard about this. Choosing between Synthesis and Destroy (since Control is obviously wrong. I'm not gonna do what TIM wanted) was difficult, since I wanted to get rid of the reapers so badly. However, I wasn't willing to wipe out the Geth and EDI to do so, so I just merged. I'm playing God, but at least I'm not committing mass genocide on innocent species.

I could be alright with losing EDI in the name of a bitter sweet ending, even with Shep dying since I wouldn't be surprised if Cerberus used Reaper tech to rebuild her, but committing genocide on the Geth managed the difficult task of brokering peace between them and the Quarrians was a bit much.

It's as if there is no up side to any of the endings. Destroy- you commit genocide, Synth- you force confrmity and Conrtol- you take over for the God-kid.

I originally chose control because blue is my favorite color and controlling the reapers makes me lol.

Now I choose destroy because IF I CAN'T HAVE MY HAPPY ENDING NEITHER CAN THEY

I wouldn't touch either control or synthesis with a ten foot barge pole.

Even if you take star child at his word. How can you be sure Shep's humanity would ever survive transition to reaper god. Maybe just having Shep become the new genocidal deity.

As for Synthesis, forcing every synthetic and organic being into a drastic transfromation of their DNA against their will. Also there's no guarantee of what benefits and drawbacks of this new form of life.

So while Destroy certainly has its problems its the least worst in my eyes in that organic life survives unchanged and AI can be recreated without fear of reaper interference.

1-Starchild lies, and there's no guarantee he's telling the truth.

2-TIM wanted to control the Reapers because he was indoctrinated. The Reapers were fooling him into thinking he could. He can't. There's no guarantee Harbinger won't lead another invasion with a brand new Shepard reaper at his side.

3-Synthesis is the mass homogenizing and cultural death of an entire galaxy. There will be no growth, no advancement, nothing. There will be surviving, but not living. I don't care if Joker can finally bang EDI-the impact of this choice is staggering. (Edit:Not to mention you're doing damn close to what Saren was compromising in the first place-appeasing the Reapers to get them to not kill all of us.)

Destruction, assuming you believe the Starchild, is a necessary evil to make damn sure the Reapers NEVER come back. For three games I was told we need to destroy the Reapers, and I'm going to go and destroy the Reapers. I'm not going to let them fly away just to come back. I'm going to blow them up. You can justify completely raping the genetic code of an entire galaxy, but I'll go ahead and justify making sacrifices to stop the machines that have been committing genocide for hundreds of thousands of years.

Though to be honest, I don't think any of the endings was a 'victory' for Shepard.

Only if the players are incredibly lazy, then our Shep dies. Not in my universe, but eh whatever, to each their own.

As for the "choices", could they have been more convoluted?

Get real, how could destroying a bunch of old machines effect the outcome of "new" machines(Geth)?

That just flies in face of PURE logic!!

As for EDI, same question but with a twist...........she actually walked off the crashed Normandy, behind joker, so neener, neener.

Bad choices abound, and they all stem from a dev who(in their infinite "insert whatever word you like") figures we CAN'T HANDLE REALITY(or the truth) doesn't say much for their opinion of us.

The idea that synthesis could even be possible, is completely ludicrous, not to mention space-magically dangerous, creating another 'rift' in the intergalactic relations department.
Yeah uh huh, merged synth with all different types of genetic life in the known and unknown galaxy, SUUUUURRE, yup that's gonna work.
