Halfway through the walkway, Shepard stops.

"No."

A raised eyebrow is the only indication that the Star Child took notice.

"No?"

"You're giving me a choice. My answer is 'no'."

Shepard turns around, to face the Star Child, his face grim with determination.

"You're giving me a choice, you say. But it's a false choice. All of your options are based on the same notion: Namely, that synthetics and organics cannot exist as equals. And I don't believe that. I refuse to accept that as a truth. Maybe one is born from flesh, and the other comes from silocon. But where it counts, organics and synthetics are the same: we are selfaware. We want to be free."

"Free from tyranny. Free to find our own path. And, yes, maybe we will make mistakes. Maybe we will disagree, and maybe we will wage war against eachother. Organic against organic, synthetic against synthetic, and organic against synthetic. But we will grow. We will learn. And, maybe, just maybe, we will find a better solution. But we can't, not when you take that choice away from us."

Optonal: "I see EDI and Jeff together, not as master and servant, but as equals.
Optional: "I see the Quarians and the Geth, organic and synthetic, preparing to create a new homeworld for the both of them, together.
Optional: I can see the Rachni, once feared throughout the galaxy, stand with us, as equals.
Optional: I can see it's possible.

"So, no. I won't make that choice. And neither should you. Instead, allow us to find our own way. Let us go. Send the Reapers back to the space between galaxies. Let us make our own mistakes. Let us be free. And believe in us. Believe that we might find a better way. A better way than this...."

The Star Child scans Shepard's face.

"Do you truly belive that is possible?"

"Yes, "says Shepard, without hesitation. "I believe we're owed that chance."

A few moments pass, as the Star Child keeps looking at Shepard. One could almost say as if it was contemplating something, if that wasn't a far too human interpretation of its actions. Then, suddenly, the avatar of the Catalyst disappears. The ground begins to shake, as the Citadel begins preperations to depart. The wards are starting to rise up in the distance. Looking for a way off, Shepard moves as fast as his aching body carries him, to the edge of the platform. Looking across the vast Vista of Sol space, he sees the Reaper Fleet move away from Earth, persued by the Galaxy's forces. Seeing no way off, he prepares for his death...

...when, suddenly, a shuttle appears, with open doors, with the two comrades he left on the way to the Conduit, their arms stretched towards him. But, having expended all his strength, he falls down. While the Crucible/Citadel combination prepares to close, the shuttle lands, and his two comrades step out, pick him up, and carry him inside. As the Citadel closes its wards, the shuttle escapes just in time.

Optional: Shepard lays on the ground, unclear whether he is dead or alive.
Optional: Shepards lays in the arms of his loved one, unclear whether he is dead or alive, whle his partner is talking to him, yelling to stay alive.

As the Citadel and the Reapers leave, the credits begin to roll.

Optional: If at high enough EMS and paragon points, after the credits, we see Shepard opening his eyes.

Yep that would have worked. Send BioWare your resume, they might be hiring writers soon.

Yep. This was the perfect way to end it in my opinion. I've said as much in a few other posts. Make it a Paragon or renegade interrupt based on that character's reputation. Changes the tone of the conversation ("How dare you play God with us" for the Renegade version), but not the greater context and the ability to say, "No, I reject your patently false premise."

The rest of it is alright, but the quoted sentence I have an issuea with, just like how I did in the Destroy ending.

How does having amassed an enormous fleet of many different species, both organic and synthetic, alter one man's chances of surviving an explosion/whatever else? It doesn't. It's stupid.

Well, in this case, Shepard  only barely survived the attack of the Reaper at the conduit, as originally scripted. But, he's not actually present on the Citadel/Crucible when it leaves. He just fell down, succombing to his original injuries. Does the fleet really matter after that? Logically, no, but it gives a motivation to try and do as much in the game as possible. Chocie between story and gameplay here.

Works for me.
Heck, that's the kind of speech I would have expected out of Shepard as it fits his/her character.

THIS IS WONDERFUL! Not only does it provide us all with the OPTION of a positive, happy ending, it makes it extremely easy to implement into the game as-is. It gives players the CHOICE of how to end their game, without drastically changing the current ending.

Additional epilogue scenes can easily be added, and only the most important voice actors (Squadmates, Hackett, possibly the Councilors) need to be brought back in. It could be a mere 15-20 minutes of additional cutscenes and dialogue, while still providing the fans that want it a possibility of that cheezy, happy "Disney" ending.

And if you don't like it? THEN YOU DON"T HAVE TO CHOOSE IT! THAT"S THE POINT OF THIS WHOLE SERIES! CHOICE!

Let's make sure Bioware hears about this! And I mean that in the most respectful way... I genuinely feel this is a great way to satisfy both the fans and the developers. And it still leaves every other possibility on the table.

BRAVO!

Please BIoware, we know you are reading these... Take this one to heart!

What I would have given for this to be an option. Posted Image

Still would have liked an epilogue, though.

Personally, I consider this my main Shepard's true ending, whether or not it's going to be implemented (which it should, and I'm willing to sign over any rights, even mere bragging rights, to Bioware if they want to use this). My alt Shepard, who is a Renegade Femshep, has the other, Final Renegade Interrupt, as her true ending.

(hence why I made the artistic choice of making Paragon Shepard male, and Renegade Shepard female. Just saying, you know.)

Imagine that, while the shuttle is barely making it through the closing arms of the Citadel, the Suicide Mission soundtrack begins to play.

We just want the OPTION of something like this. We know it can't be mandatory, but give us the CHANCE to truly win and survive.

Yep, "no" was exactly what I WANTED to say.

Followed quickly by something along the lines of "Now, get the h#^& out of my galaxy!"
