*bump* for being an example of what the Extended Cut should be like, not just 'clarification'.

this would have been my cannon choice for an ending if it had been an option. I hope the argue ending becomes part of the new content.

This is probably the best ending that fits with the current ones.

Unless the indoctrination theory is true.

I hope this is the EC (plus some afterwards cut scenes)

I doubt it though. That would impede their s***ty art

That would have been horrible writing.

The only thing refusing a choice would have justified in that situation was a total Reaper victory.

I disagree with the original post simply because destroying the Reapers is sufficient. After all of the agony they have caused to the galaxy you would just let them walk away? Trust that they will stay away? What would their purpose be if not to reap and preserve countless cycles?

Well, it's an added option, not one anybody is forced to take. It's a different solution to the same problem. If you want to pick 'destroy', that is still an option. Yes, this option brings risks with it, but so does any of the other options. In that sense, mit is an equal to those already given.

Halfway through the walkway, Shepard stops.

"No."

A raised eyebrow is the only indication that the Star Child took notice.

"No?"

"You're giving me a choice. My answer is 'no'."...

I love it OP!

If Destroy didn't kill the Geth & EDI and didn't destroy the Relays & Citadel... then yes it'd be the obvious choice.   They "poisoned the well" with the above to make Destroy just as bad as the other two choices.

Just read both of these for the first time. They are probably the simplest and yet most personally satisfying re-writes for the ending I've yet seen.

Bioware could have saved a lot of time and money if they had implemented this.

I'm glad to hear that! That was my intent, to not get invovled with the science and mythology of the series, but to focus on the emotional aspect of the ending. Also, I wrote this mere moments after I actuall finished the game, so I wasn't really in the mindset to shift through all the different plotlines and plotholes for answers. :P

I'm also glad to see that not everybody has read these threads, and that revitalising them is appreciated, and not like waking it unto some kind of undead Frankensteinian monster. :P

I liked the OP's idea, but if destroy didn't kill the Geth I'd still pick it.

Love it. What I desperately wanted to do at the time, and fulfills the deeper meaning and message of the trilogy.

Wow, great job OP! The fact that Shep is forced to accept the notion that organics and synthetics must necessarily be enemies pissed me off a great deal. while i have other huge issues with the end, your idea is a really great way to solve this one.

I remember this thread! I'm certainly glad to see it again, it is seriously such a good option for an ending. It's so simple, yet draws way more meaning than any of the "different" endings we got in game. I mean this actually fits with what seemed to be the biggest theme within the game, that synthetics and organics can coexist...

Thank you! Though, in my opinion, the biggest theme in the game isn't about synthetics and organics, but it's the following:

We're all 'human'. Whether, Asari, Turian, human or Quarian, we all have our issues, our own problems, and we all have our faults. In that, we are all equal. But maybe, if we dedicate ourselves to it, we work through our obstacles, and can accomplish amazing things.

Still involves starchild and three moronic options. Adding an option that would make sense in a nonsensical situation is...... well..... better, but equally frustrating.

I like the option but it sounds a little too easy. I'd much prefer this same dialogue happening but the Catalyst makes the Citadel explode (causing him and the reapers to rest in peace) but Shepard must attempt to make it out alive then again that's just me imagining a mix of Lord of the Rings ending and Mass Effect with Shepard escaping the Citadel as it's preparing to explode.
EDIT: Plus it could be reminiscent of the end of the suicide mission in ME2 (Suicide mission score playing as enemy dialogue is being said, Shepard running to the Normandy), I like that idea
