An ending containing different endings and different fates is a good thing.

Optional: If at high enough EMS and paragon points, after the credits, we see Shepard opening his eyes.
The rest of it is alright, but the quoted sentence I have an issuea with, just like how I did in the Destroy ending.
How does having amassed an enormous fleet of many different species, both organic and synthetic, alter one man's chances of surviving an explosion/whatever else? It doesn't. It's stupid.
As a reward for completionist players like myself. That's what the rubble scene amounted to.
But for the love of God, so Shep's eyes opening while his head rests on the LI's lap or something. Make it obvious that it all actually happened. Speculation about what will happen as the galaxy tries to rebuild is fine. Speculation about what we just saw is BAD WRITING!

Sure, it doesn't make sense to connect both things. Neither does the fact that the Catalyst would let you choose some options if you amassed enough war assets. They do change if you have a low EMS. So, yeah, that same logic can be applied to the actual ending itself.eddieoctane wrote...

I'm not sure about the whole "Shepard lives if you were good enough", but I think the option to say "Go to hell" should've been there. It feels so out of character that Shepard simply... agrees.

"No" in that broken voice (which I actually like in the last few scenes), but with growing strength, until he's back to his full voice.

I second that. I mean some people were actually arguing whether it's Shepard or Vega in the rubble. Is that the kind of speculation they meant when writing this?

So with low war assets, you make your speech, and watch as the unprepared fleets get decimated. Normandy gets destroyed. Different people from the series die. All is lost . . . but you didn't give in.
Medium war assets, you make the speech, Earth is utterly decimated, but a dent in the Reaper fleet causes them to retreat, not winning the war but rather proving that there is a fighting chance against the reapers for time to come. The shuttle comes and the sequence with Shepard's death or survival plays, whichever happens is not dependent on war assets, maybe another variable. Alternatively, because Shepard dies in most of the other endings, he/she simply doesn't die.
High war assets, you make your speech, there is hope for Earth being rebuilt, and the Reapers instead get decimated. Not completely destroyed, as it isn't feasible for that to happen, they retreat all the way back to dark space without the ability to rebuild their numbers. The cycle is broken. Shuttle scene, Shepard survives, huzzah.

This reminds of the mission when I was recruiting Aria's army and I was asked to release a murderer. I chose not to release her and found another option.

Ashley flashback - Shepard quotes one of the greatest quotes of all time: "We will not go quietly into that good night..." - Shakespeare Henry V and/or Independence Day.
Tali flashback- Shepard: Nice try bosh'tet. *points gun at catalyst* Keelah se'lai. *fires* I've got a house to build.
Garrus flashback is the "you were born for this" scene - After the "no" shepard says: "Go to Hell."
Jack flashback - Shepard: "F** you, I'm getting laid."
Liara flashback- Shepard: "Sorry, I've got little blue babies to make."
Add your own, and fill in the remainders. I'm at work so don't have much time. Way better than what we got though, and it incorporates one of the most important choices and free will. Always a good thing.

A perfect addition to this would've been to use the flashbacks of your LI for something useful. After the "No" your flashback LI scene appears and you say something according to who you are romancing. Anderson flashback if you have no LI, or Joker maybe for something funny.

It breaks the theme into a cliche. Flashbacks were there to evoke nostalgia, saying those things breaks the intensity of the moment.

Heck, that's the kind of speech I would have expected out of Shepard as it fits his/her character.

How many of you expected a Paragon/Renegade interrupt prompt to pop up while the godchild was talking? *raises hand* Then the kid just kept talking and I was like "oh shi- you gotta be kidding me!"
That would be awesome
